PS3 and Yamaha RX-V363 compatibility(hdmi)

I have tried to connect my PS3 to my new system but I have had no success at all. When using hdmi cables I have managed to get a picture but no sound.
Does anyone have any experience connecting these two systems together?
I do apoplogise if this is a 'stupid' question

Re: PS3 and Yamaha RX-V363 compatibility(hdmi)

I looked this up for another member a few weeks ago and as I recall the 363 will only pass video thru hdmi, not audio. You need the 463 or higher for audio. So, you need a digital cable (coax or toslink) for audio.

Thanks Gene C, I went away for another tinker and found that I had to also adjust the settings in the audio menu in the PS3 ( which I never knew existed either) So I now have it working, not that the misses enjoys Call Of Duty4 exploding in the lounge room!
