Bose 301 Music Monitor II

I hope I am in the right forum, if not, I am very sorry.

I am hoping to someday build a home theater in my apartment. Back in the 80's, my parents had (and still have somewhere in storage) 4 Bose 301 Music Monitor II speakers. Would these speakers be a good start? Or are they complete rubbish? What kind of retail value do these speakers have, if any?

Thank you very much and I am glad to be a part of this forum!

Re: Bose 301 Music Monitor II

First advice: DUCK.

From my recollection, the 301s are the least garbage speakers Bose has ever made, which isn't saying much. I believe there were both paper and metal dome tweeter versions. The metal should considerably better. If you have no alternative, you have no alternative.

Re: Bose 301 Music Monitor II

Could I make any money off of them? Can you even sell used speakers?

Or (more likely) should I just toss them and save for the good stuff?

Re: Bose 301 Music Monitor II

Might as well try them. If they have metal tweeters, they may actually be fairly decent.

Re: Bose 301 Music Monitor II

from what I can remember. the bose 301 ( cant believe Im saying this ) dont sound all that bad. I would use them for the time being and save up some cash for a better ste of speakers. if you only have 4 of them I would opt out of a matching centre. in the set up menu just set the centre to none.
