Universal releasing 3 gangster titles on Oct 14 (inc both "American Gangster" cuts)

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of three gangster titles on 14th October 2008. Ridley Scott’s American Gangster, Martin Scorsese’s Casino and David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises will be priced at $29.98 SRP each or will be available as part of a three-pack Gangsters set priced at $89.98 SRP.

Universal have so far not used region coding on their Blu-ray Disc titles and we expect this trend to continue, though officially no region coding information has been supplied. Features are detailed below…

Cool....both cuts of American Gangster? I'm there. Also picking up Eastern Promises. Been waiting patiently for both.

Definite improvement on that American Gangster disc over the HD DVD I own.

If I was a fan, this would be an obvious upgrade, but I won't be upgrading because I found the film rather so-so.

Awesome, I cannot wait for this set! AG wasnt my favorite film but I'm interested in seeing the theatrical cut, and I really regretted handing off Eastern Promises HD DVD so I'm looking forward to doing that review! And Casino is Casino, what more is there to say except that HAS to be awesome.

Now that Casino is coming in, I think we can expect stuff like Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas I guess?

I wouldn't be too sure. After all, I think the only reason we're seeing this gangster box set is to take advantage of a cross-promotion opportunity with The Godfather trilogy. That and these films have a wider appeal than Fear and Loathing.

The best bet for a Fear and Loathing BD release is a new Depp film coming to home video or the theaters.

You can thank me for American Gangster. I bought the 3 disc set blind the other week. Still haven't watched it but I opened it so it can't go back. I used to be so good at smelling double dips too. Oh well.
