DVD Times - Body Heat (US BD) in October

Quote:
Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Body Heat on 7th October 2008 priced at $28.99 SRP. Marking the directing debut of Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill, The Accidental Tourist and Grand Canyon), Body Heat echoes the 1940s film noir genre in the tradition of Double Indemnity and The Postman Always Rings Twice, but with explicit sexuality that would never have been allowed then. Academy Award(R)-winning actor William Hurt stars as naive attorney Ned Racine, playing opposite Kathleen Turner in her film debut as married socialite Maddie Walker. Ned's lust for Maddie blinds him to the deadly consequences of seduction and deception and takes him on a runaway ride of passion, with a one-way ticket to trouble. John Barry provided the sultry score; Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke are memorable in supporting roles.

Extras include:
  • Lifted scenes
  • Three featurettes:
    • Body Heat: The Plan - Explores the script and the cast with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt and Ted Danson
    • The Production - Explores the making of the film and production stories - with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt, Ted Danson, Richard H. Kline (director of photography), and Carol Littleton (editor)
    • The Post-production Explores the editing, the music and the theatrical release - with new interviews from Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Turner, William Hurt, Ted Danson, Richard H. Kline (director of photography), Carol Littleton (editor) and John Barry (composer)
  • 1981 interview footage with Kathleen Turner and William Hurt

Awesome news indeed

Re: Body Heat BR out on October 7

Guess what DVD is getting traded in The City tonight?
Hope this isn't the mid-nineties LD transfer which I believe the SD DVD was based on. New extra's so we've got a chance.

Movies are: "The Greatest Artform".
HD should be for EVERYONE!

Great news! I have never seen this film, but have always wanted to.

I'm thrilled that I never got around to pickig up the SD version. I'll gladly blind buy Body Heat!

Universal, please release Streets of Fire on Blu-ray.

What a great film. Kasdan is one of the few guys in Hollywood who really knows how to write snappy dialog. I stunning directorial debut.

"You're not very bright. I like that in a man."
"What else do you like? Lazy, ugly, horny...I've got 'em all."
"Well, you don't look lazy."

Yet another movie I was happy to see get a remastered SE, bought, yet still haven't gotten around to watching- but will be thrilled to get a (hopefully) proper HD version of.
There are clips of this in the Cutting Edge doc on Bullitt. Not a huge difference, especially with so much of the film going for a misty, steamy quality- but it still should give it that extra little oomph. For me, this is an essential library title so I'll always have to chase down the best version available.

Ned: I need someone to take care of me, someone to rub my tired muscles, smooth out my sheets.
Matty: Get married.
Ned: I just need it for tonight.

Matty: My temperature runs a couple of degrees high, around a hundred. I don't mind. It's the engine or something.
Ned: Maybe you need a tune up.
Matty: Don't tell me. You have just the right tool.
Ned: I don't talk like that.

Just brilliant!!!
