SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Just wanted to ask for advice on which location in the attached rendering is best for the placement of the subwoofer which is a floor sitting model. The layout does not show the rear speakers but they are there behind the sofa at ear level (not ceiling mounted as shown.)

So the question is, generally speaking

SUB in option A: To the right side of the TV and a little to the right of the wall mounted speaker, but on the floor.

Sub in option B: To the right of the soft and on the floor. And a little under the rear right speaker which is at ear hight.

The depth of the room from the sofa to the scree in approximately 12 to 14 feet (depending on shoe size).

Many thanks,

SAM

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

what model of sub ?

Both options are on the floor and against / near a wall which is good.

Ideal placement would be done by listening to the subs in both locations and making a decision based on acoustics.

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Thanks Gregg,

The sub (and system) is the Cabasse Eole 5.1. The sub is an active 250W cube that sits on the floor with 35 to 200 frequency response range.

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

the best way to find where a sub is going to sound the best is do it in reverse. Here is what I mean by that. you put the sub where you sit. then you walk around the room. where it sounds the best that is whwere you put the sub. It sounds silly but it works

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Is this a real picture or is this computer generated, I don't see any wires from the components, I know I am old but did'nt know I was going blind.

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Good advice on placing the sub where you sit, but I would recommend a program like REW to find the best location for your sub.

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Hi, this is a computer generated picture, so no wires reflected. Just trying to play with the layout, but its pretty accurate.

Re: SUB PLACEMENT in this setup....

Thanks All,

I will head all your advice, trying the logic of the reverse placement and then seeing if that is in line with a digital reading.

Will let you know the final outcome!

Cheers
