Advice Please

Hi - I need advice on what to get for my home theater audio. I have a new flat-screen t.v. and a blu-ray player, so I would like to get the most out of those. I would like to get an HTIB (DVD player clearly not needed), since I do not know much about home theater audio at all and would not even know how to match up/connect various units. The absolute highest I can go is $500.00. The one unit I have been looking at is the "Sony HT-SS2300." Any and all suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Forum folks give mixed reviews on the Sony, due to cheaper speakers mostly.

The Onkyo HTiB units get good reviews, and I can attest that a $500 Onkyo setup is pretty good stuff for the price.
