Ebert & Roeper Move On / New Hosts Announced

Scott and Phillips should make the show better and they definitely have more credibility.  I know not everyone liked Roeper, but I would like to see him back on a review show.  I liked the Phillips/Roeper dynamic.  Scott was OK when he was on.  I'm not sure about the Scott/Phillips dynamic.  There isn't a ton of contrast between them.

Scott and Phillips should make an interesting pair. I might actually enjoy the show again!
Zoloft and Paxil and Buspar and Xanax, Depakote, Klonopin, Ambien, Prozac,
Ativan calms me when I see the bills.
These are a few of my favorite pills.

I was flipping channels one day and caught Ben Lyons on one of those VH1 pop culture retrospectives talking about how badly he wanted to bang some eighties singer when he was growing up. I asked myself how the fuck he got to sit in the same chair as Siskel or Ebert once did.

This is horrible.

I can't stand Mankewicz, his voice is annoying and his taste in movies jaded and biased.
Lyons isn't much better but he at least seems to have a more open interest in different styles of filmmaking.

In the 90's I used to watch Siskel & Ebert every week.  I even taped their shows for reference.  I considered Ebert to be a major influence on my love of cinema growing up.  He and Siskel's duo dynamic made for enjoyable TV.  Things obviously weren't the same when Siskel passed (I can't believe it's been 10 years already) and Ebert's surgeries have left him the inability to speak (God, that must feel terrible).

I wish they could've gotten more legit critics to take their places.  I for one would've gone with Peter Travers from Rolling Stone & Owen Gliberman and/or Lisa Schwarzbaum from EW.  Or Chris Connelly, he use to cover movies all the time in the late 80's/early 90's he also was editor-in-chief of the now sadly defunct Premiere magazine.

I assume you're talking about when they replaced Roeper and the guest critic with Ben and Ben instead of advocating someone over Scott and Phillips...

I'm wondering about that too. They've both been on the show, but I don't know if I've ever seen them interact together. Still, should be an improvement over the current show, which is itself an improvement over the hot mess of the first few weeks after the changeover to the Bens.

I don't know who Scott and Phillips are, but I've gotten used to Ben Lyons and Ben Manchiewicz.  They're both fine.

Enjoyed their first show.  They seem to have good chemistry yet divergent views.

Infinitely better then the bastardization version.

Trying to think of a show that went through a season viewers were encouraged to forget and move on....   Much improved.

Respectable, thought provoking film reviews have returned to At The Movies.

A.O. Scott is a fantastic film critic, and Phillips isn't bad either.
I can finally watch my favorite show once again.  Whomever made the decision for the new line up.....Thank You!
