colored tint where it should be all black

I have a SDTV CRT and my screen, at the moment, has a very noticable purple tint all throughout. It's not in a certain spot, it simply has taken over where the black should be. Here's the thing: It was a green tint when I first got it, however, I went into the service menu and managed to scale back the green(still noticable at times, although it seems all of my tvs have too much green) but I am completely unable to get pure black.

Any ideas?

Re: colored tint where it should be all black

Greetings

Looking at the color triangle for the Tv ... we have r,g,b on the corners of the triangle ... Primaries. and Cyan, magenta, yellow on the sides of the triangle.

If you take away blue ... the image goes yellow. (r+g)

If you take away red ... the image goes cyan (b+g)

if you take away green ... the image goes b+r ... magenta

You took away too much green.

To do it right, you need instrumentation or a known reference for what gray looks like.
