CD Duplication is in my mind....

Next week, I have to go to a college for a seminar and I have prepared a CD of my presentation to distribute it among the audience, I am planning to take the help of a company for CD duplication. Tell me, will there be a difference in quality? I have heard that replication gives a better quality?

Ask the vendor if the final product will be delivered on CD-R or pressed from a glass master and what they need from you.

For audio CDs, the latter method is certainly preferred, but it also depends on the quantity ordered.

For data, if it's a reputable vendor, and they use good quality material, either method is fine IMHO.

You seem to have a short timeframe, so that may restrict your options as well.

This has nothing to do with HD software, but since I work in professional DVD authoring & replication I will add:

- Replication usually requires a 1,000 unit minimum
- If your project is due next week, chances are you may not have enough time for replication
- CD-Rs and DVD-Rs should work fine for a presentation and will work with most players. However, to absolutely guarantee 100% compatibility, replication is the only option

The problem with replication companies is that they tend to put their company info all over the disc label. Whereas if you made them yourself at home, ideally on a nice white inkjet-printable CD-R, they'd be nice and clean. Granted, each CD-R would take 3 or 4 minutes, so it would be a long day, but, it is doable. If you had an Epson printer you could even print your own info on the inkjet-printable surface... maybe next year?

I get my printable CD-Rs from Rima:

And this is the current CD-printable Epson printer (crap quality construction, but, what can you do) -- Epson Stylus Photo R280:

This is different than printing on labels. Labels jam up people's machines so are frowned upon.

Anyway, one GOOD reason to use a replication place is that they probably offer those little business-card shaped CD-Rs, which granted don't fit into slot-loading machines (like Macs) but are kind of neat. If you data is brief, it might fit onto one of those.

Have you considered just putting the file online, and printing up business cards with the url? Like, www.sophialastname.com/presentation.zip

Well there are many companies providing good facilities for Cd replication. I had tried a lot of them and at last find one best for me. It not only do cd replication for me but also gives me other facilities to make it more attractive. Its quality is also good. Try it.
