I'm looking to capture something off of one of my VHS tapes, and need some advice on how to go about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

Re: What's the best method in capturing a VHS tape to my notebook to upload onto YouTube?
Your best bet is an inexpensive USB video capture device like one of Pinnacle's
Dazzle models or
Diamond's VC series
for around $40. This is from a quick and dirty Google search. Do a search on "external video capture' at Best Buy or Circuit City or your favorite electronics website and you should find several other good options.
If your VCR has an s-video output, try to get one that supports s-video, otherwise composite should work well enough for YouTube. I've transferred videos from old VCR tapes and my TiVOs to my laptop (using s-video) to save space or for editing for a couple of years and have been satisfied with the results. (I've even transferred some of the home videos onto DVD.)

Joe
