Box says full screen is modified but I know documentaries are often shot in full screen. Does anyone know the OAR for sure?

It was framed for theatrical presentation at 1.85:1. I believe the DVD is a pure "open matte" job, so you can better approximate the theatrical presentation with a "zoom" mode on a 16:9 TV.

Re: Storefront Hitchcock OAR

I'd like confirmation on the DVD ratio, as I love the movie-- it got me back into Robyn Hitchcock in a bad way.

Re: Storefront Hitchcock OAR

Yeah can someone please confirm? I don't purchase open matte films any more than I buy pan and scan, with the exceptions of animation, documentaries where often they are filmed on video or are otherwise composed for the full screen, or when it was the directors preference, ie Kubrick. I'm not going to open it until I get a definite answer. If I don't get one I'll have to take the box at its word and return it.

Re: Storefront Hitchcock OAR

The DVD is definitely 4:3 full frame. I own it. Theatrical presentations were definitely widescreen. I saw one. I am not aware of a widescreen DVD release in any region. I do recall the DVD looking just about right zoomed to 16:9, but it has been a while since I watched it.
