Denon 2802 receiver and Playstation 3 Help - No sound

I just got my new Playstation 3 connected to my Denon 2802 receiver with an optical cable. I also hooked up the Playstation 3 with an HDMI cable to my plasma TV. I am having problems in getting any sound with the optical cable. I have checked my receiver settings by assigning the DVD to optical1. I also checked the audio and BD settings on the Playstation 3, and I still cannot get any sound.

Can someone give me some detail instructions on how to get sound with my receiver? I cannot afford to buy a new one at this time.

try bitstreaming the sound. My buddy brought his PS3 over(i have Denon2805), and we couldn't get sound at first. You have to have Dolby Digital and Dts selected from the audio menu, and you also have to bitstream the sound through optical. That was the only way we could get sound.
