Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

Noted with estimated release windows.

Also, I'd be shocked if "Hulk" isn't released with "The Incredible Hulk" (which was recently rumored as coming November 25).

Re: Your most wanted Universal titles on Blu-Ray

I have a question for those who own the HD DVD release of "Field of Dreams". How was the high-def transfer? This is my favorite film and I hope Universal does it justice for a potential Blu-ray release.

Also, I went on DVD Empire to look at the back cover just now, and it looks like they ported everything over from the 2004 Widescreen Anniversary Edition (including the "Field of Dreams Scrapbook" which was on the first DVD release and ended up as a Wal-Mart "exclusive", and I do have that bonus disc). The original theatrical trailer wasn't listed, so I guess it didn't make it on that release either. It would be nice to see it on a Blu-ray release in 1080p.

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

Re: Your most wanted Universal titles on Blu-Ray

Speaking of "Serenity", what are the chances of seeing that Q&A with Joss Whedon that was filmed in Australia on the forthcoming Blu-ray release?

Re: Your most wanted Universal titles on Blu-Ray

My top five Universal movies off the top of my head:

1.) Back to the Future Trilogy
2.) Hitchcock (the big three and other favorites)
3.) Jaws
4.) The Blues Brothers
5.) 1941

TV:

1.) Miami Vice

One of only two TV shows that I'd probably upgrade to BD.

Re: Your most wanted Universal titles on Blu-Ray

Chris, I bought the Field of Dreams HD-DVD when Circuit City was blowing out all their titles and sorry to say the transfer is not good. I had sold my 2004 Widescreen Anniversary Edition DVD prior to the purchase. I sold the HD-DVD and re-bought the same DVD I sold.

Thanks Dean. Here's hoping Universal does a new transfer then, and they are waiting until the film's 20th Anniversary next year before releasing the Blu-ray release.

Re: Your most wanted Universal titles on Blu-Ray

Hitchcock, mainly: Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, Frenzy, and Rope.

W.C. Fields: Pretty much any, but especially The Bank Dick, You Can't Cheat An Honest Man, Never Give a Sucker an Even Break, You're Telling Me!, It's a Gift, and International House. From how gorgeous the SD discs for You're Telling Me and "Sucker" look (and sound), they ought to pop off the screen with BluRay.

Marx Bros.: Mainly Horse Feathers and Duck Soup. I'd like to see if they can find a decent print for Horse Feathers.

1930s classics: Scarface, Hell's Angels, All Quiet on the Western Front (all of these have stellar DVDs)

1940s: Arabian Nights (3-strip Technicolor looks GORGEOUS on the DVD!),

Universal horror/sci-fi: Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula's Daughter

Amercan Graffti (1998 DVD is still one of the best transfers ever)

The Blues Brothers

Tell The Weinstein Company to release Richard Williams' animated masterpiece The Thief and the Cobbler on DVD in Panavision widescreen and uncut! See and hear what you're missing from their Bitsy Award winner of Worst Standard Edition DVD of 2006 on YouTube!

I am surprised nobody mentioned it yet:

Spartacus

And if they plan to release the same transfer that they used for HD-DVD they should not even bother

i just had to the chance to see the film in hd and boy, what treat. then i insert my dts dvd of the film to compare it and it looked bad compared to that. yes, i know that i can't compare hd with sd and then say that sd looks bad. of course hd should look better because of the higher res. but that was not the issue. the problem was within colors, contrast and all other things that makes you droll on a good hd release.

i don't wanna return to this dvd until a br comes out. honestly!

I admit, I adjusted my tv settings for a few minutes until it looked good. My LCD tv can tear a sd dvd to shreds unless I set it properly.
The reason it's in my most wanted list, is because I know it will look a lot better in HD, and it deserves it.
