Charles in Charge’s Josie Davis Is EMA’s “Favorite TV Child Star”

ENCINO, CALIFORNIA (June 16, 2008) … Josie Davis, who played “Sarah Powell” on the hit TV show Charles In Charge has been named EMA’s Favorite TV Child Star for her memorable role on the show. She will receive the award during the Home Entertainment Awards show taking place on June 24. The awards show is part of EMA’s Home Media Expo 2008, taking place June 24-26, 2008 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
“Josie Davis has left many viewers with the delightful memories of her child star days,” said EMA President Bo Andersen. “Her career smoothly transitioned from child roles to an impressive career as a leading lady on television and the silver screen. EMA is thrilled for this opportunity to showcase this talented actress and choose Josie Davis as EMA’s Favorite TV Child Star.”
Eager to polish her acting skills, Josie Davis studied the craft with Paul E. Richards, and later auditioned for the prestigious Actors Studio. From hundreds of hopefuls and after just two auditions, she was offered membership and promptly moved onto significant roles.
Davis continued to harvest her television experience in popular hit series Beverly Hills 90210, playing the sexy character “Camille Desmond” and was cast in the Aaron Spelling show Titans. In Nicolas Cage’s directorial debut, Sonny (2002), she was cast opposite James Franco, Brenda Blethyn, and Harry Dean Stanton. Her television film credits include Psychic Murders (2002), alongside Henry Rollins and James Russo, Kalamazoo? (2006), and In the Land Of Merry Misfits (2007), which was accepted into the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. Her guest starring roles are eclectic and include the critically acclaimed dramas Navy NCIS and CSI: Miami, and also showcase her comedic proficiency, such as on the CBS hit show Two and a Half Men.
Davis recently starred in the comedy Chasing Tchaikovsky with Ann Magnuson, and the horror film The Cursed opposite Costas Mandylor. She also played the perfect assistant to Chris Potter in longtime producer Pierre David’s film, The Perfect Assistant, where David was quoted as saying Davis was “one of our best villains, ever.”
Davis recently worked opposite David Spade on Rules of Engagement, as well as opposite Clifton Collins Jr. in the new NBC show Fear Itself. She also just shot a comedy pilot produced by JJ Abrams, Life’s a Butch?
Charles In Charge Season 4 will be available from Arts Alliance America on November 18, 2008. Seasons 2 and 3 are available now from Arts Alliance America.
