CULVER CITY, CALIF. (June 16, 2008) – The classic comedy trio returns with lots of “slapschtick” when The Three Stooges Collection: 1940 – 1942 Volume Three twists, punches and pokes its way back onto DVD August 26 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. All 23 short films from those three years, chronologically organized by the original release dates, have been digitally remastered from original negatives and include such all-time fan favorites as You Natzy Spy, In The Sweet Pie and Pie, A-Plumbing We Will Go and An Ache In Every Stake. The Three Stooges are one of the most influential screen comedy teams of the 20th century and an inspiration to generations of comics that followed. Following their start in vaudeville, the trio’s film career began in the early 1930s, reached its slapstick peak during their tenure at Columbia Pictures (1934-1959). After their initial retirement, they were rediscovered by an enthusiastic new generation through the medium of television and have outstripped all their contemporaries in terms of lasting popularity.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

Does "I'll Never Heil Again" contain the bit where Curly has a picture of Hitler accidentally stuck to his backside? I absolutely love that bit and haven't seen it in years.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

Vol. 2 is excellent, but I've always had a soft spot in my head for the wartime shorts. Sony is finally treating the Stooges with proper respect---curing a failure that goes all the way back to Harry Cohn. Better late than never.

I hope not yellow. In my mind's eye I'm thinking that would be really ugly. No?

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

only made that coment because of the primary color scheme of things sort of like the 8 pack of crayolas that they used on the ones that they tried to add color to, the only "color" i want to see is on the packaging

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

Tony I missed your comment somehow. No, I just thought green would be next. Honest. LOL Really though, as stupid as it sounds, unless they repeat how many colors can they use? Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple, and? I know there are bazillions of colors but if there is 9 volumes total what others would be ok? There's a part of me that wishes the'd kept it the same, like the Star Trek movies, except TMP of course, but hell I'd be happy to have them in a paper bag as everyone says.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

Well going off of the idea of just doing the shorts in chronoligical order, and doing two years a set, after volume 3, that leaves 5 more sets to go, so

pick a color

Sad fact of this is that still no picture in sight of the Little Rascals/Our Gang comedies being released in order from anyone!

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection: 1940-1942 Volume Three

I wonder if they might consider doing different shades of the same color? For example, dark blue, light blue, etc. Just a thought. In any event, I think that there has got to be a purple set somewhere down the line.
