I wonder if " The Big Nowhere" could be made into a filmable script, it's pretty
complicated like LA Confidential.

I'm really looking forward to this release. L.A. Confidential is one of my all time favorite films and I STILL think it should have beaten Titanic for the best film Oscar that year.

I've been reading along, but now I must make a comment (in regards to post above): when something is called "Best Picture," it should be for the overall film, not just the story or even for the characters portrayed. This is my own opinion, of course, but if a film can make you stare at the screen in mute horror at the tragedy unfolding before your very eyes, and if it can make a tear roll down your cheek, then by God! - that's your Best Picture! Right there.

Don't get me wrong - I love both L.A. Confidential and Titanic, but c'mon - what James Cameron did was spectacular. It was like watching a newsreel of the 1912 tragedy once the ship struck the iceberg. You were almost there when the ship started sinking from the bow. The drama beforehand was to allow you a connection to the people who suffered and died on that ship. Sure, it could have been scripted better - the lines from the two stars sounded quite wooden (at times) - but that doesn't diminish the fact that you felt something watching this for the first time. And the second. The third, fourth, etc. *(unless you're very unfeeling and apathetic).

That's why Titanic won.

Looks like there won't be deleted scenes after all. It appears that the Bits mistook the individual listings of the 14 locations on the interactive map to be deleted scenes. Sorry to get people's hopes up.

But interestingly, the back cover is up at DVDActive and it lists the participants of the commentary:

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...fidential.html

"Commentary by Critic/Historian Andrew Sarris, James Ellroy, Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce, James Cromwell, Ruth Myers, David Stathairn, Kim Bassinger, Jeannine Oppewall, Dante Spinotti and Danny DeVito"

They spelled David Strathairn's name wrong (even though it's correctly spelled two other places in the back), but pretty cool roster.

Looking forward to this, but NOT a fan of the cover art at all. Why mess with a good thing?

Why? Because I'm Hollywood! That's what I do! (bad Keanu Reeves delivery, defending why he wins in "Devil's Advocate") *sorry*

Re: WHV Press Release: L.A. Confidential Two-Disc Special Edition

I'm confused.....will the Bluray have all the extras as the 2 disc SD version? Amazon lists the Bluray as a single disc at $19.95...doesn't sound like the special edition to me.

If i recall...it does. It is a single disc, cause the Blu-ray wont need 2 discs. The great thing about 50 gig. Same thing with The Lost Boys, The Mummy, and a few other titles i cant think of now, only 1 disc, and all the extras.
