The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-17-2008

First time I've been up late enough to see the roundup on "Saturday" night in a long time.

Men in Black on BD and Sword in the Stone. And maybe one more order from DD before the 22nd. And I might have to see if there's anything of value in the BD sales...

Anyway I'll pick up Jericho season 2 and maybe The Sword In The Stone, which is the first movie I ever saw in the theater!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-17-2008

Just Popeye Volume Two for me.

I already have it but I think you could argue (and it may come to that) Volume One as being $10 since that's what is definitely what is shown in the ad. Maybe it's only the Popeye V1 in the tin that's $10 and BB is just trying to clear their exclusive tins from their shelves?

And since I missed it in theaters, I'll be renting Be Kind Rewind.

Popeye Volume 1 @ Best Buy

I stopped by Best Buy today and asked about 'Popeye - Volume 1'. The individual said it was the Fleischman collection, but I checked their web site to double check.

Best Buy's website only has "Popeye & Friends: Volume 1" (to be released on Tuesday, June 17th) for $9.99, which is noted at the top of "The Weekly Roundup".

Unfortunately for those who don't have "Popeye the Sailor, Vol. 1: 1933-1938 [4 Discs]", it still has a price of $54.99 at Best Buy, though you can get it at Deep Discount for $45.99.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 6-17-2008

So is the Popeye vol. 2 at Best Buy in a tin again? The ad kind of looks like it, with the rounded edges but I haven't heard anything definitive. It'd be nice if the whole set (I think 3 vols?) came in tins so they match.

The picture in the ad is of the first volume (1933 to 1938) though so I don't think there's a tin this time.

I have Jericho: The Second Season from Amazon.com on the way, and in addition to the fact that there's no music replacement this time around; I bought it to support this series (in the hope of another kind of revival down the road).

I'm planning on getting Burn Notice: Season One on Thursday.

Thanks, Mike and Patrick.

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

A lot of maybes this week: Men In Black on BD, the complete Jericho, It's a Boy-Girl Thing. I'll probably get more than usual because of the DD sale.

One title not on the list that I'd like to recommend is The Restless; I saw it at last year's Fantasia festival and it's a really good fantasy-action movie from Korea, with a better script than most of these things have and some really grand battle scenes.
