Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Ditto. I used HTF01 for my order, as well. Someone even said they were able to use the same HTF01 code for multiple orders, so there were obviously dozens, if not hundreds, of uses of HTF01.

Obviously something is wrong with their ordering system, and if they're dropping advertising on HTF based on their own internal error I'll definitely have to reconsider buying from them in the future, sale or no sale.

I placed two different orders with different cards on the 29th and used the HTF01 code for both.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Ron,

Is there any chance you could get clarification as to what they meant when they said that nobody was using the HTF code? Were they just exaggerating and meant that only a few people were using it?

The reason this is important is because if they are indeed feeding you a line then I've most likely placed my last order (of many) with them. If it's an honest mistake or a slight exaggeration then I won't worry about it.

I had to exchange a scratched disc from DDD once. IIRC, I called them on the phone and they sent me (might've been via email) a pre-paid postage label. I just put the disc back in the package it came in, taped it up and sent it back using the pre-paid label. They sent me a replacement no problem. I didn't have to buy a mailer or pay any postage.

Generally when you return something to any online retailer you have to contact them first for an RMA. If you don't do that, then who knows whether it'll be processed correctly.

I looked online for a way to contact them. It said to just use the return address on my receipt to send it back. I couldnt find a way to inform them of my need for an exchange online, all i found was a FAQ in the area that says "returns", and it didnt say anything about getting a pre-paid mailer from them. Anyway, by the time i would get it, id be past my 30 return time. The site is not quite as user friendly as Amazon. Egad, i guess i could call them! But i did send my receipt, and write an explanation of the problem, just like their FAQ said i should.

Same thing happened to me today, exactly like that. Tried a few times, got frustrated, requested new, that doesn't work either. I even tried cutting/pasting the new password just in case I wasn't reading the symbol correctly. But, nothing.

Don't they have an email for customer service? I've never returned anything to them, but I know I used it once last year when I placed a large order during the sale. They sent items in several shipments which all arrived OK until the last package. For some reason they sent it to my old address! (The order was placed correctly, the order confirmation email had the correct address, and the other shipments were shipped correctly) In any case, after several emails they credited my account and asked that I just order it again. When I pointed out that I had purchased it during the sale and I shouldn't have to order again at the now higher price they shipped it right out and charged me the lower price.

I, too, used the HTF01 code (and could have used it again because I debated placing another order & it would have allowed the code). My boyfriend, who also placed an order from this sale used the code. I have to agree that if they're going to drop advertising because they claim NO ONE here used the code (!), which is quite obviously an error on their part, I'll have to re-think doing business with them, sale or no sale.

I wonder if DD is going through some rough times and have to make some cost-cutting decisions. It sounds like they are just using this a face saving way to drop HTF. It seems that they are not being honest with you about this.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I'm sure I used the HTF01 code when I placed both my order and one for my mom. And when I e-mailed friends about the sale, I asked them to use the HTF01 code too, even though they're not regular HTF readers.

This is really disappointing. I'm sure they got a ton of business from this site.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I have to say I've never had any problems with DD. I placed three orders during the 20% off sale and they all arrived in about a week. I've only had to return something once (Hercules S3) because it had a broken disc hub. I sent it back and had my replacement within a couple of weeks.

I used the HTF01 code at least a half dozen times, so it's pretty weird for them to claim that no one has used it.

BTW, the following contact information on the DDD website:

To reach Customer Service via telephone call toll-free 800-264-5076. Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. CT and on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. CT.

I would like to add my voice to the record.

I used the HTF01 code 6 times in June during the sale.

Have received 5 of the orders in a timely fashion. (5-7 days after getting the ship notice.) 1 order is on B/O

But for them to say no one used the code is.........

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I used the HTF01 code on my second order only because I was not aware of the code when I placed the first one. In fact I placed the second order BECAUSE I became aware of the HTF01 code. I liked that DD had a business relationship with my favorite HT site and decided to make another order using the code to show support.

DD has pissed me off (on more than one occasion) in the past, with lost orders and ignored e-mails and such, and I have (on more than one occasion) vowed I would no longer give them my business. Of course I have always come crawling back when the 20% off sale comes around or they have a good B1G1 sale. Even still their prices and deals aren't what they used to be and I find that I have used them less and less in recent years.

This is really annoying that they are being untruthful about no one using the code. I wonder what's the motivation behind it. If they just don't want to advertise with HTF anymore or the revenue generated through the advertising wasn't as expected, then they should just say that. But to say NO ONE used the code?

Also, if their code tracking system is faulty, it should be obvious enough that they would be aware before they say something so obviously untrue as NO ONE used the code. SOME code is being used for the order to get 20% off and if their tracking is showing some other code when HTF01 is used, shouldn't it be effecting other codes as well? I wonder if they are only tracking clicks to DD directly from the ad on HTF, and aren't looking at the codes used at all?

Anyway, their loss.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I was excited to see the news of the Spring sale, and was ready to place a big order using the HTF01 code. Sadly, when I logged into the website and went to my wishlist, more than half of the titles are either discontinued or out of stock. A real head-scratcher since I've been able to find them easily on Amazon; which is why I won't shop with Deep Discount any longer. They were great for awhile but I think think they spread themselves too thin, too soon.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

out of stock doesnt really mean anything at DD if it says oos they still will ship it, it just might take a little longer, usually only a few days are added to the shipping timeframe.

i'd be curious to know what they have listed that is showing as discontinued
that other sites still sell.

I certainly don't know the specifics but I don't think they're deliberately lying. There must be some technical snafu that made it appear that no one used that code. Like you said, they could have easily just said that they didn't get enough use of the coupon to continue advertising at HTF (which could have happened) rather than say that no one used it (which is beyond belief).

I have no doubt they have a snafu. I have not been able to log on for a week. I wrote them, and they said they are having issues with log in recognition for many people. They are working on it, but i could always call their 1-800 number if i need to place an order. Just think of the money they could be losing!

Actually, all the seasons of The Shield released by Fox have been discontinued (but Sony is now releasing them) and I'm pretty sure the original version of the Val Lewton set was discontinued and replaced with a set that added a new Lewton documentary. So if you have those versions on your list at DDD, they might have run through the 'old' versions of those releases while Amazon might still have them in stock.

Of course, that doesn't explain the others.

I still can't Log on. Man, what is going on with them?

Starting to worry about my order. I placed it 11 days ago, and four of the items were in stock. I even chose expedited shipping. I haven't received 1 of my items yet. Think I will stick with Amazon from now on.

Since it is obvious the HTF01 code was used during the 20% sale at DeepDiscount I was wondering if Ron or Parker ever got any further feedback from DeepDiscount? I still think it is some kind of "face saving" way for DeepDiscount to cut back on advertisting withouth admiting their business is not doing well right now.

No explanation why other than the fact nobody used the code.

It's a shame. We enjoyed having them as a sponsor and certainly
wish them the best.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Well...it's amazing they apparently didn't believe that the code was used.

Tough break for the HTF sponsor-wise...but whaddya gonna do? Their loss, I guess.

=====================

It's really too bad. I always thought it would be great for the HTF to have it's own code for the sale...especially since the sale is so darn popular here. And now that you went and got one...and I'm thinking it will strengthen the tie between the two operations (which could only be good for both), they drop you. Crazy.

I guess as you learn in life (and in business) there are certain things that you'll likely never understand.

I hope Ron or someone directed them to this thread, so at least they could see that there WERE many orders placed with the HTF code and that there was a problem of some kind with their system.
