Actually, not from season 8 but season 4! Pardon me to answer this, even though it was directed to David.

It was episode #15 on the DVD (or episode 120): "I Get Your Nanny, You Get My Goat"

Mike, I'm not David, but I can answer that question. It was the S4 episode, "I Get Your Nanny, You Get My Goat." And it wasn't a ghost she went to help. It was a warlock, Lord Montdrako, who had imprisoned Darrin in a mirror because he believed Darrin had stolen his beloved servant, Elspeth. Sam created a tour guide wearing a Scottish outfit, who looked just like her, to convince the ladies staying at the castle that it was haunted. Montdrako had so much fun with the tourists now that he no longer felt lonely without Elspeth, and he released Darrin.

There is also a S4 episode called "McTavish," where Sam goes to help Aunt Clara's boyfriend, Octavius, get rid of a ghost from his castle. But the ghost isn't lonely, and she doesn't dress like a tour guide in that one.

Hope that helps.

OH WOW I guess I had something else on my mind... I can't believe I typed that lol

And Martin, I agree with you about the French. I think all Region 1 DVD's should have French audio because French is widely spoken in North America. I think French, Spanish and English are the three most widely spoken languages. I just wonder why season 6 was the only season to date with French as Audio? Martin, I will write Sony and ask them to put French Audio on the complete Series Box Set.

And David, I agree the Biography of Liz Montgomery from A&E would be excellent to enclose in the box set. I have that on VCR and it's a great Biography. I hate that she got so ill filming the Edna B stories. My great grandmother died from colon cancer and it hit her in January and she died in April a few years ago.

Has anyone heard about the series they are doing in the UK about BW? I wonder if it is doing well!

Thank you so much David for posting those links. Sony should hire you to design and write for Bewitched Season 8 and the Box Set. Maybe they will read this and see how much we love the show and want the original pictures.

If I had any pull with Sony we would've had everything I've mentioned in my posts! I and Sony have nothing to do with one another other than the fact that I buy their products. I wish I were in charge of the design and production of these DVDs...that would be my dream job!

I think that the info about the new character for the supposed Season 9 is merely wishful thinking...considering that the 8th season finished filming in 12/71 and had it been a full season they would've done more filming of at least 8 more episodes in 72. I don't believe there were any more scripts produced, at least not that I've ever come across.

Oh, Mike... thanks for your help, but I suppose I should do it myself. Deep inside of me, I know that even if I do it, it wouldn't change a thing. Call me pessimistic but I won't even try to change their way of doing business.

There's no chance the future complete box set will include more French than their initial release. Sony doesn't want to invest on redoing the masters. That's why the complete set costs less than $100. I understand that. But Sony should have done it right from the start. As a said earlyer in this forum, only season 1 and 6 had French dub. Why?... Search me...

Incidently, I'm expecting my French Box Set from Amazon,fr later this week.
On release day (feb 4th in France) all stock was gone. Amazon wrote to me to apologize for the delay of shipping because Bewitched 7 was back order. I have a feeling the the British and German fans had ordered the French release because it was the only place to find it so early in Europe. In UK and Germany, the release is due in March. Two days later, Amazon wrote me back to announce that my shipping was on the way.

Season 8 was a full season. In fact, BW produced 2 more episodes that season than most other sitcoms. In the 71-72 season BW had 26 eps, while Here's Lucy, The Doris Day Show, All in the Family and The Mary Tyler Moore Show all produced only 24 eps. The Odd Couple only 23. And none of them had the effects to deal with that Bewitched had. And only Doris Day was another one camera show that had to be lit and photographed (as BW was) like a film, which is a lot more time consuming than the 3-camera, live audience technique, whether filmed or taped. So they REALLY went beyond the norm that season, even allowing that "Serena's Richcraft" was held over from S7.

The days of 30+ episodes were gone by 1971. From then on out it would vary between 22 and 26 eps per season for most series.

Re: Bewitched Season 7

You know if you think of it, with all the episodes that BW had 254 that would total about 11-12 seasons today, since each show nowadays just has 22-24. So Bewitched really was pumping out some episodes. Sorry Martin, I thought Season 6 was the only French dubbed Season. I didn't think Season 1 was dubbed in French. But maybe Season 8 will have French. and we will keep our fingers crossed The entire box set will be French dubbed too

Actually, all seasons from Bewitched have been dubbed in French. But Sony US selected only season 1 and 6 releases for inclusion of the dubbed French tracks on it's DVD release in North-America. What you might not know is that season 1 was re-released in Canada in december 2007 with the French tracks because when it's first release in 2005, there was none. Portugese sound tracks seem to push French tracks away, God knows why.

To think that European Bewitched DVD releases always have English, French, Spanish, Italian and German tracks on them... Five languages tracks!!!! Can you imagine? We never get that in region 1 and what's more, French is always excluded by Sony. They should take examples over Fox TV DVD releases.

You do make a great point. I guess I was basing it on the filming schedule (that can be found at Bewitched Filming Schedule) where every other season finished filming in February or March but the 8th season finished filming in December.

Looking at the broadcast schedule it reminds me of the good old days when series played straight through without endless reruns through out the year.
Only one preemption and one rerun (for Christmas) during the 8th season.
Of course new shows stopped in March instead of May but I think it is much better than today when shows disappear or go into reruns for a month at a time
during the winter.

Looking at the filming schedule they reran "Samantha"s Power Failure" a fifth season episode during the sixth season. It is one of the shows without Dick York. I wonder if they used the credits with Dick York when they broadcast the rerun.

I am also curious about
36. #3961 #74 PRODIGY (Final B&W episode) 6/24/65 6/9/66 (38)

This is the last episode shown that featured Alice Pearce . It says filming was completed on
6/24/65, almost a year before it was broadcast. The teaser sets the show up as a flashback where a non pregnant Sam remembers how she helped Glady's brother when she was still pregnant. I assume the teaser was filmed later than 6/25/65. Also the tag scene where the Gladys and Abner along with Sam and Darrin watch TV appears to be in the present with Sam not pregnant. When could the tag scene have been filmed ? Alice Pearce had died on March 3, 1966. I assume they saved the show because they wanted a late season show with Alice Pearce. The flashback was needed to explain why Sam was pregnant during the show six months after Tabitha was born.

If Sam could create a double of herself you wonder why she needed Serena to sub for her in several episodes. Tabitha was also able to make her own Samantha. One shouldn't look too closely at this stuff. Just enjoy the show.

Re: Bewitched Season 7

Hey guys, I agree about the episodes... Bewitched really pulled them out and many up until 7 and 8 and they worked hard on them... Today just sucks because like someone previously said during the winter they show reruns... I wasn't born then, but I really wish we could go back to those times when they had the great shows... these shows today just are awful in my opinion... I guess that's why I collect all the older sitcoms... I just think they are so much better than the newer ones... I noticed a show today that runs for 8 season barely has 180 episodes that is if they have 22-24 whereas bewitched had 254 so that would mean it would have ran up to season 12 maybe 13...

Martin I agree, I think the European releases should have English, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, etc... whereas the N. American release should have French, Spanish, and English since there are many French speaking people in Canada and various parts of the USA. I think if we all write Sony maybe the NA Box set of the series would include French on it's release...

And to Brian, I think BW season 8 will be out in November or December... because I think they are going to try to finish the series by the end of The Green Decade... And the Box Set should be out early in 2010

Why does everyone think "Darrin Goes Ape" is one of the worst episodes? I think it's hilarious and my niece loves it. By the way I know they aren't real apes, but does the guy that plays Dodo Bird in earlier and later episodes play the gorilla's? Other than that episode that the ones of you think it's bad what other ones do you think are bad? There are a few from earlier episodes I gave a 3 out 5, but no others. Every time a season comes out I take Herbies book and rate them. I think the reason I like this episode is because I just love Gladys. She cracks me up the way she gets so hysterical and have you guys noticed Abner in Season 7? He let his hair grow and looks like he got Dentures.

For "Samantha's Power Failure" repeat they used the Dick Sargent opening.

I agree about the old days of practically uninterrupted seasons. It was much more enjoyable to know you were always going to see a new ep, except possible the week of the holidays sometimes.

Plus it gets a bit old listening to some current day actors moaning about how hard they work in TV these days, when they're getting paid MILLIONS more per year than the classic stars were, and for a fraction of the episodes the classic stars had to do each year.

From the look of it, I'd say the teaser was filmed when they filmed the last complete new ep of the season, "The Girl With The Golden Nose."

Unless I my memory is faulty (I haven't cracked open the episode yet) I'm sure it's Janos Prohaska that does the ape and dodo bird. He also performed a lot of creatures on Star Trek requiring a suit.

Re: Bewitched Season 7

Hey Guys,

I have a question. Did Irene Vernon the original Louise really leave the show to pursue Real Estate? I read that Liz Montgomery wasn't to fond of her and her friend that was a writer got fired from the show and the Ashers kind of pressured her to leave, because they liked Kasey Rogers better. Is this true or just hear say? It is interesting. Does anyone know if the E True Hollywood Story is on YouTube? I have never seen it, but I have a friend that knows a lot about Bewitched. He is older than I am and was a teen when BW Came out in 1964 and has been collecting things on the show every since. He told me things I didn't even know and I always thought maybe he exaggerated, but after reading BW forever, everything he stated was true... Thanks

I think some of my favourite episodes is Mother in Law of the Year...LOL I also Love Sisters At Heart, Sams Psychic Pslip, Sams Magic Mirror, The Salem Episodes, Sams Pet Warlock and Darrin Goes Apes

Alice Ghostley was indeed a part of Mayberry RFD for the 1970-1971 season as Alice Cooper (i kid you not!), the maid who took over after Aunt Bea (Frances Bavier) decides to leave the series. She probably did not anticipate that show getting canceled despite good ratings when CBS decided to purge itself of all rural themed shows. She was then again more available for BW's eighth season.

I've removed the part about Irene Vernon, since I was not there and there are no verifiable sources on what really happened, other than the official reason of "left to pursue real estate".

I received my box set from France today.
The instrumental patch work theme seems to have been created for the German Bewitched opening. It's on every episode.
I believe Sony made a technical error by inserting that same "not official instrumental theme" on episode 2 of the bedwarmer to the american DVD release. Anyway, it's rather funny to hear that.

I was wanting to ask you guys a question that remember the early 70s very well... I noticed this season that Liz/Sam wore something like yarn in her hair... what exactly is that? How long was that popular and has it came back since then? I know this is probably a silly question, but I was wanting to know. Also did they change the closing credits them this season!?! As for Irene Vernon, I think the "left to persue real estate" is something to cover up the fact that she and Danny Arnold were seeing each other and that the Ashers were good friends with Arnold's wife--of course I wasn't there and this was never discussed on record. I don't know all the details and certainly don't want to speculate further on what may or may not have happened.

Thanks Jude, I liked Kasey's character better... I think My favourite episode with her was "Mona Sammi" LOL That was hilarious...I read she hung the funny one up at Halloween and became an avid Bike Rider after the shows fun in the mid 70s

Hi Mike, yes using yarn in the hair was a very late 60's/early 70's thing. My sister did it. It was the "in" alternative to using ribbon. You can see it once in a while on other shows of the time. I don't think it's ever really made a comeback, but I could be wrong.

Here's a TV Guide cover of Doris Day wearing yarn for a hair ribbon.

Re: Bewitched Season 7

Yes, Mike, the music for the closing credits did indeed change for this season after staying stuck with the version used for season 4,5, and 6. After season 3, the closing theme music was no longer a extended version of the opening theme, but rather its own take on the BW theme. For season 7 and 8, we have a more uptempo bouncy mix--I prefer to call it the Ashmont mix (since in season 8, we finally see the credit "An Ashmont Production").

Thanks guys... I appreciate all the help... I am now getting anxious for Season 8. Watch Sony take years to get it out (I Hope Not)... I just hate the syndicated episodes because they cut so much out...

So that being said what kind of Series Box Set would you guys like to see? My idea is the Morning Glory Circle Neighbourhood Box Set, like a big box with streets of houses each including seasons... Or the Stephens' house and each room have a different season... what are some of your thoughts?
