Pauly Shore Recognized by EMA as Comedy Entertainer of the Year

ENCINO, CALIFORNIA (May 5, 2008) … Funnyman Pauly Shore, who is responsible for some of the most outlandish comedies of the ‘90s, will be honored as Comedy Entertainer of the Year at EMA’s Home Entertainment Awards ceremony. The presentation will be on June 24, during EMA’s Home Media Expo, which will be held on June 24-26, 2008 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

“Pauly Shore is a true original. We’re pleased to recognize him with our Comedy Entertainer of the Year Award for his unconventional and unique comedy,” said EMA President Bo Andersen.

Pauly Shore is the writer-director and star of the DVD comedy Natural Born Komics, available now from First Look Studios. In it, Shore is seen doing impromptu acts in and around South Beach with his celebrity friends. Natural Born Komics continues along the path of his 2003 mockumentary Pauly Shore is Dead that satirized the perils of Hollywood.

Shore began writing and performing his own material at age 17. After a few small movie roles he caught the attention of MTV in 1990 when they gave him is own show, Totally Pauly (1990-1995), which garnered national attention and ignited his career.

During this time, his television stint also included the HBO special Pauly Does Dallas (1993), which led to a major role in the movie Encino Man (1992), co-starring Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser. Comedic roles followed in several films including Son-in-Law (1993), In the Army Now (1994), Jury Duty (1995), and Bio-Dome (1996).

Shore spent the last few years adding more projects to his already notable list of film and television credits, including the television movie Hefner: Unauthorized (1999) in which he played comedy legend Lenny Bruce, and several recurring appearances as himself on HBO’s Entourage (2005-2007). Shore also recorded the comedy album “The Future of America”, which was named Best Comedy Album by the College Music Journalists, and later put out “Scraps from the Future”, which earned a Best Comedy Album nomination from The National Association of Recording Merchandisers.

This should be fun!
