Need to connect outdoor spk to HTIB 531

I am trying to connect two sets of outdoor speakers on my deck. I currently have a HTIB 5.1. Can I connect the outdoor speakers using a speaker switcher and the same amp? Do i need to be concerned about the power output from the amp? Would it be better for me to purchase a 2 channel amp and connect the front speakers permanently to the new amp and the keep the surround to the other amp? Please help me, I don't want to get the connection wrong and blow my surround sound.

Re: Need to connect outdoor spk to HTIB 531

Sometimes it's kind of tough adding things to a HTIB. A second amp would be ideal, if the HTIB has a place to connect it The speake switch idea will work; just remember to turn off the outside speakers when watching a movie, or you might find your front speakers' volume reduced.
