Something has to give -- speaker or display height?

Being well aware of the ideal set-up consisting of all speakers' tweeters at the same height and at ear level, I have an issue.
Displays centered at eye level are the ideal as well.(I'm wall mounting my plasma)

......so which one should I sacrifice?

Re: Something has to give -- speaker or display height?

I'm confused...what is your question?

Do you mean how do you get the center channel at ear height when your display is at eyeball height? Well, you have to put the center either above or below the display, and live with it. the left and right speakers can easily be set at ear height, and the surrounds should go a foot or two above ear height.

Does that help?

Re: Something has to give -- speaker or display height?

I was asking if I should have my three identical speakers all at same height--ear level....or plasma at eye level with speakers above or below?

My next question would be if you reccomend the display at eye level, should all three speakers be at the same height to have even tweeter alignment?

Re: Something has to give -- speaker or display height?

The answer is....we compromise. Usually the center channel winds up above or below the display, with the L and R speakers more-or-less centered at the same height as the display.

It isn't perfect, but it works fine.
