I live in Las Vegas
I just bought a blu-ray player not too long ago, so I'm very excited

The last event I went to was the HTF Hollywood 2004

I'm Sam Posten, this will be my 4th or 5th HTF event, and I review DVDs and BluRays and HD DVDs and the occaissional CD for the site. I am a huge photo geek as well as being into Home Theater, plus I'm a big video gamer.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Cool cool, I'll be on the PS3 a LOT next week as I have preordered GTAIV for ps3 since I wasnt sure my Xbox360 would be repaired in time. MS actually surprised me and sent me a BRAND NEW ONE, oh well =) I'm on both networks as 'Kadath', same as my flickr account.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

My name is Maurice Verploegen.

Last year's EMA was my first HTF event....and loved it! So that's why this year I'm coming back to EMA. I had a blast last year. And this year I am bringing my wife (Wendy) along with me. Although she is not into this industry at all. She wants to find out what this is all about and goes with me to keep me company. I am sure me telling her about the great after parties and going to Vegas has nothing to do with it (haha).

Anyway look forward to another great EMA event and hope to actually meet and talk to some of you. I can put a face with some of the names that post on a regular basis. But again, look forward to actually meet you this time.

See you soon!

Maurice....My wife will be with me again this year...and your wife can ask her those questions ...like " what the hell is wrong with these guys?" and "Why do they spend so much money on electronics"...and she can get a womans point of view on it

I just can't wait...see you all there.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Ray,

That would be awesome. So she will know that I am not alone on this. BTW, I would love to see your set up in Hollywood. I hope you can make that happen.

PS: Did you like our 3 HD channels additions today? Sci-Fi and USA in HD.....LOVE IT!

See you in Vegas.....

Re: Introduce Yourselves

I am realy sorry to say that my wife and I had to cancel this show/trip at the last minute. I am really bumped about it, as I had such a great time last year.

However, I am still very much on for Hollywood. So I hope to see a lot of you there. All of you that are going, please write the same great reviews and feedback that you did last year. So I can read up on all of the great and cool things that you will be doing at EMA in Vegas.

Have fun! And again, I hope to see you all in Hollywood.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Looks like I'll be returning. Booked my room at The Rio yesterday and my flight on Virgin today.

Been a busy year, writing my monthly columns here:

St. Mihiel Trip-Wire: May 2008

Programmed a film festival here: 2008 Great War Society Seminar

Gave a lecture in February here: Society for Aviation History Meetings

I stayed at The Rio a number of years ago for either CES or VSDA (now EMA). Can't remember which show. The rooms are nice and big. The food is pretty good at the All-American Bar & Grille. The free Masquerade Show in the Sky is fun. And I've been to parties in The VooDoo Lounge (which has a dress code).

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Hello everyone. Last year was my first event and I'm hoping to make it to both Vegas and Hollywood this year.

I've stayed at the Rio before. It's a great place.

I am curious about one thing. For those of us who attended last year, are you using both the Blu-Ray player and the HD-DVD player? Are you buying up the HD-DVD titles at the cheap, "going out of business" prices or staying with the Blu-Ray prices at the moment?

I'm Winston Walker. I live in Las Vegas. Last year was my first HTF event.
I missed some of the cook parties last year, because I'm GM at a local theatre, but this year i've taken time off, so i wont miss anything.

Also, i'm using BOTH the BD and the HD player from last years show. I'm buying whatever cheap HD-DVD titles I can find. At this point I have more
HD titles that BLU.

Looking forward to seeing you all next month!

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Friday the 13th, I'll be setting up a system in Santa Fe for a live video link promoting cultural exchange between Cuban artists and Americans. Then I'll be heading to Vegas for my second EMA.
I helped set up the audio for EMA last year, and feel privileged to do the same this year.

I only turn on my HD DVD player for HD DVD's. The rest of the time I use my Blu-ray. I look to by any good, cheap HDDVD's.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Howdy--I'm Paul, an L.A.-based actor (if you like low budget horror, check out a movie I did last year with C. Thomas "Pony Boy" Howell that's currently on the fest circuit). Attended the 2004 HTF event here in Hollywood and last year's HME.

Using both regularly. The X-A2 for terrific upconversion of SD DVDs and of course HD DVDs, and the BD10 for of course BDs but also DVD-Audio. Into music as much as movies here. Sold all non-exclusive HD DVDs beginning in February right after Tosh threw in the towel. (Glad I moved quickly on this: what with it being announced for BD recently, I listed my U-571 HD DVD recently on Amazon Marketplace--that title is selling for about half of what I sold HD DVDs for three months ago.) Not buying any new HD DVDs, but am keeping and enjoying exclusive titles that I surmise won't hit BD for at least 18 months or so (Inside Man, The Pianist, Casino). Could be in for some surprises there, though: I was surprised to see U has already announced a BD of End Of Days.
