The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-15-2008

I'm not that interested in AvP: Requiem, but the $19.99 Alien Quadrilogy at CC caught my attention. I really only want the first two movies, but considering they are usually $20 each anyway, I might jump on that.

Edit: Just looked at the actual ad, and it says "Save $30, 4 disc set." I guess this isn't the huge 9 disc set that came out a few years ago, so it's not quite as great a deal as I first thought. It still might be okay though, if it's got the two cuts of each film that the big Quadrilogy had.

The picture in the ad is definitely the 9 disc set so you should be able to get it. The only problem is that if your CC is anything like the one in my area, they have one copy and it's already sold.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-15-2008

I've heard the Woody Woodpecker set is pretty darn good. Didn't get Vol 1 but I might pick up Vol 2 - at least I'll have some classic non-Disney animation to share with my kids one day when I have 'em. I heard on Cartoon Brew that Best Buy has an exclusive "cel" (reproduction of some sort) with the set.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead on BD. I'm also tempted by Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Retribution. And I'd like to thank Amazon, Image, and Fox for helping me nail down what my guidelines for acceptable prices for BDs are - $25 for Devil seems reasonable, but $28 for Juno is too much.

For me, Juno has all the features from the two disc SD release and it's only $5 more than that. That's a steal when dealing with a Fox title.

Lets see.....getting the AVP BD 2-pack from Amazon - was lucky enough(my point of view ) to get it when they marked it down for $27.95 a couple of weeks back. Will also be on the lookout for the 'Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead' BD. Will eventually pickup the Alien Nation Movie Collection when it gets cheaper.

I went to Circuit City tonight, and it is the 9-disc set thats $19.99. But, they only had one copy (of course), and it was kind of hidden, I had to search for a few minutes to find it. I'm glad I did, it's a great price, since their regular price is $74.99! If you want it, I'd suggest you go as early as you can tommorow!

Was that a steal or what???!!!! I got in on that too...would not have bought it otherwise!

My only concern is whether the version of AvP in the BD 2-pack is the unrated one (I know the version of AvP-R in the 2-pack is the unrated one); the Amazon product description didn't make it clear.

The single disc Blu-ray release has both theatrical and unrated cuts on it. I believe they have packaged the original Blu-ray release with the sequel. So unless they went back to re-press discs for this release, I'm sure it's the same Blu-ray. After all this is FOX. By the way the original Blu-ray release of AVP is limited in it's features compared to it's sd dvd counterpart. What a shock, I know.

Isnt the difference between AVP and the director's cut of AVP simply that they added blood splatter with cgi for the director's cut?

no, there are a couple of short scenes added in.

one is the beginning at the whaling location.

yeah, mike, that info has been around for a bit now.

apparently there will be a newer second dip with new features eventually.
