Can PS3 output sound to TV and amp simultaneously?

This is kind of a dumb question, but please is there any way of getting the PS3 to send an audio signal to the TV and to my home theater amp at the same time? I know that you can get the signal to go to the TV OR the amp, but is there a way of getting it to do both at once, please?

The reason for asking is that late at night I like watching movies on TV after the rest of the family have gone to bed, but the bass on the home theater system is rather loud. However, changing over to the TV sound using the PS3 controls and then having to change it back again is a bit irksome, and it'd be great if there were a shortcut so then the most I'd have to do is turn the volume down on the TV when sending sound through the amp.

I'm assuming you've got your HDMI going to the TV, and an Optical cable going to your receiver? You can't send the two digital signals at once, but you can use the analog cables that came with the PS3 and send that to the TV for audio, just leave the video unplugged. I haven't actually done this but it should work just fine.
