Present system is as follows:

Sony 36XBR800
HDVR HR20 HD RECEIVER DIRECTV
YAMAHA RECEIVER RX-V1400
JVC DVD/VCR PLAYER HR-XVC26U

I want to upgrade my TV to a Sony 52 XBR4

Want a Blu-ray DVD player, almost bought the PS3 but I spend over $150 on a universal remote and I understand the PS3 does not work with universal remote. So, I am waiting for the new ones Blu-Ray player to come out soon. ( I am hoping I dont spend more than $400)

My Yamaha receiver is a few years old, so it does not have HDMI and I dont know if that will be a big factor on video or audio. Does anyone know?

What do you guys think of my setup? And my upgrades ideas?

Re: thoughts on my HT setup and my ideas for upgrade

update, In doing some research I understand that some of the new Blu-Ray DVD player thru the analog out , the players have a decoder that will give the receiver the latest HD audio sounds like dTS/Ma etc. This will be sweet, I will get my HD DVD player and not have to replace my REceiver.

Any comments?

Re: thoughts on my HT setup and my ideas for upgrade

1. Does your current receiver have analog inputs for 5.1 (or 7.1)? If not, you won't be able to get the lossless audio without HDMI.
2. You can buy an adapter for the PS3 that allows for use with any IR remote for about $50.
