The WaterHorse - Legend Of The Deep

Ok, although this particular film will never attain "classic" status and I did check out some general reviews that seemed to give it an above average grade overall. I was still somewhat reluctant to purchase a copy - they aren't cheap for one thing. With so much garbage being released ( my opinion of course ) I figured if this family film was passable I could justify the expense.

As it turned out I liked it, a lot. The scenery and cinematography where topnotch ( 2:40 OAR ) with a stellar video image to match. I viewed it on a 128" 2:35 screen ( Epson Pro Cinema 1080UB ) and it looked pretty well as good as any film based release so far. Excellent sound track as well. It still will not appeal to everyone but I guess I am a sucker for these type of movies. I thought the main characters were believable - well chosen cast. The effects were also pretty good and I have to admit the creature was quite well done. If you don't ask too much of it and just go with it the film is quite rewarding. It is a pretty standard formula of course - boy and his dog etc. theme but here I am at 50 and it entertained me! Sound track is encoded as Dolby True HD.

Thanks Brent for your comments. I appreciate warnings and praise about films that I have not seen. Will take a chance and purchase the Blu-ray.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this release. This will definitely be at least a rental for 'movie night' with the kids. I guess we'll see how it goes from there as far as whether or not a purchase is warranted.
