Ace Bass-Was that the first Sub

I purchased an Ace Bass Sub around 1969, was that the first Sub or have Subs been around bevore that time period. I have to say that thing kicked. Bought it out of some Stereo Magazine from California, I remeber I paid some major bucks for that thing also purchased some JBL-century 100's from the same catalog.

Miller & Kriesel are credited with the first subwoofer, according to Wikipedia.
