Now is this just me or is WB giving us another Blu-ray release only using the old tired dolby digital track? I was checking on the audio options for the bluray release and it looks like it will only be offering a DD track. Has anyone heard if this is correct, or are they actually going to give us a uncompressed pcm or dolby true hd track? If all we are getting is the tired DD track ported over from the SD-DVD release then I will most likely pass on this title when it is released.

I would rather wait for a second release when they might offer a lossless audio track and buy this tittle then. I am glad we are seeing this title on Bluray but come on WB, you are killing me.

Are you talking about the original Ocean's 11 or the remake?
The remake was released back in November in the trilogy set, so I imagine it is just that same release packaged by itself. All 3 Ocean's films only had DD on the blu-ray release and DD+ on the HD DVD release. This was pretty standard for Warner.

Hey Doug,
Sorry I kinda spaced out about having this thread and forgot about it.

Anyway I was refering to the newer Oceans 11. I am not to thrilled about this title being offered in DD and I guess with WB being involved I should not be surprised.

They put out a great title like Blade Runner and then they turn around and go back to crummy DD.

For me it does not matter that it is 640kb/ps as DD is DD and I do not care for it. So since it will not be coming with Dolby True HD, PCM or DTS-HD MA I am going to have to pass on this title! I am going to buy repurchase the Mummy and Mummy Returns on Blu-ray since it will include a lossless track to replace my DD+ version on HD-DVD.
IMHO DD+ is ok and better than DD but I would rather have DTHD, its the only Dobly audio I am impressed with even with the stupid DN.

Well as I said this is just a re-package of the original 3 film set, so I'm sure they didn't go back and re-author the disc, they just broke up the set.

Re: Upcoming Oceans 11 Bluray Release, why DD?
Thanks for the info Douglas.

I will wait for WB to get there act together and put out another Blu-ray version with lossless. This is one of the things I put up with and was not happy with HD-DVD. The use of DD+ which IMHO is nothing more than a over glorified DD. I would really prefer to not buy anymore DD titles ever again.
I hope that we do not get any DD titles from Paramount or Universal on Blu-ray. I just never understood why WB uses DD tracks on Blu-ray.

I hear you on that one Douglas.

This is one title that I will have to put on hold until it does get re-released with lossless. There will be other titles that get put off as well that do not have lossless.

I would prefer lossless, but the lack of it won't prevent me from picking up a movie that I really enjoy. Plus because I was more or less forced to get a PS3, I can't listen to lossless audio until I upgrade my receiver anyway, and thats not likely to be anytime soon.

Re: Upcoming Oceans 11 Bluray Release, why DD?
I just got tired of the double dip game with DVD so I am trying to to waste money on buying duplicate titles if I can help it. I remember buying a number of DVD's in DD because that was all that was available at the time. Only to have a newer transfer and a DTS track come out later. I never care to much for lossy DD and for me its kind of a waste. But mostly because I can not afford to to keep up that practice and upgrade my ht at the same time. Heck even if I wasn't upgrading my equipment I still am tired of buying titles over and over on the same format. I am sure that there will be a few titles that I will end up buying anyway even though they have a DD track. But I am trying to not do that if I can help it.
What receiver do you currently own Douglas?
I currently own a 10+ year old Yamaha RX-V995 that will end up being upgraded to a Denon 3808ci or to a Onkyo 805 or 905. All depends on if I can actually get some money saved up to actually buy it? Then its off to upgrade my Sony BDP-S300 to a Panny BD30K to go with the new receiver. Then to a new 60" or 70" 1080p 120Hz HDTV and then I upgrade the center channel and rear channel speakers. Cant wait to get it all done so I can just concentrate up buying movies. Dam this is an exspensive hobby.

Re: Upcoming Oceans 11 Bluray Release, why DD?
I have a 10 year old Sony STR-DE595. It has 5.1 analog in, so I can get lossless sound from my HD DVD player, and I was able to get lossless from my Samsung BD-P1000, but now that I've gone to the PS3 I'm out of luck for now.
I'm looking at upgrading to the Onkyo TX-SR605, but it will probably be a year or more before I can do that. There are several business expenses that come first and at the moment lossless audio isn't one of them, but a VC-1 encoder is.
