Wonder Boys DVD glitch at layer change

On my Sony DVP-NS57P the move freezes up at the layer change where Micheal Douglas and and Robert Downey Jr. pull up to Tobey Mcguire's house, just before he goes into the voice over about his needing to be rescued. The pictures stays frozen but the dialog continues albeit with some noise. I also tested it on my Pioneer DV340, it takes a long pause but then resumes with what appears to be no trouble, but the time counter moves ahead about ten seconds. On the Sony when I go to the next chapter and scan back to almost the layer change I can watch the movie, but if I scan backwards or forwards faster than the slowest setting the picture gets all blocky and it seems to jump too far ahead or back at times.
I found some discussion of people having problems on different players, while others had no trouble at all but the discussion was limited to only five posts. So what I'd like to know is if anyone knows anything about this. Do I have a bad copy, is this a player issue, do all copies have this problem, and if so has there been a replacement? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Wonder Boys DVD glitch at layer change

While I cannot say for sure whether you have a player issue or a disc issue, I would place my money on it being a disc issue.

I have played my disc multiple times on at least 3 different players and had no significant problems at the layers change (slight hesitation possibly, but nothing more)
