Just a heads up for those who want to finish off their HD DVD collection:
Circuit City will be having a 50% off sale on their remaining stock of HD DVDs starting this upcoming Sunday, 3/30/08.
The sale could go one of 2 ways:
1. It's 50% off MSRP, not that great a deal on the prices.
2. It's 50% off their everyday prices (based on their online pricing, we're looking at $7.50 and $10 for the usual titles priced $14.99 and $19.99, and a bit more for the recently released titles or larger sets).
I think it'll be option 2, but YMMV.
As most Best Buys and Targets have cleared off their HD DVD titles, this is probably one of the last retail opportunities to get HD DVDs at a decent price before the need to use online sources for them in the near future.
You may want to scope out your local Circuit City and see if they even have the titles you might be interested in for the sale on Sunday.

At the CC I visited yesterday, all the HD-DVD discs were relegated to "dump bin" style kiosks, so they might be a little hard to browse.

So it looks like CC decides to milk their HD DVD for a little more by locking in the 50%discounted prices off the current stickered price, and not discount from price-matching their own website where the prices are predominantly cheaper, like most $24.99 titles are $19.99 online.
I had about 10 HD DVDs in my hands, waiting in line, and watched the person in front of me get shot down for an online price-match, so I returned to the movies area and put back my stack of titles. At this point in the game, I think I have a psychological aversion to spending more than $10 per HD DVD title.

Unfortunately it might be the situation where the discs will go at the higher discounted prices and we won't get the opportunity to scoop them up cheaper.

Yep, everything at my CC was stickered at $25-$35. Most of 'em are available for under $15 online already anyway.

Well unfortunately, slim pickins so far. The only one I got was Duke's of Hazzards. (yes, Dukes of Hazzard). I did miss Dawn Of The Dead, it was gone the next day should have picked it up when I had the chance. Hopefully I'll do some Circuit City jumping this weekend.

I don't think the sale is is still on (unless each store decided to just remainder their HD DVD stock at half-price).

The two CCs I went to within the past three days, indicated that what ever was in the bins, was it. They don't have anymore, nor are they expecting any. I hope I Am Legend is still coming out at least.
