Almost fell victim to Genesis Media speaker scam....

Well, didn't really do my research. I saw these on ebay and I won them for about $280 shipped. Only reason I bid on these is because their website says they're $2,000 speakers. I thought I knew a fair amount about speakers and I hadn't ever heard of this company but maybe it was something that most people don't even have a clue about like Martin Logan. Well, not the case. They suck... lol

But as soon I read the bad press, I filed a claim with PayPal stopping payment, I guess the seller realized he was selling a bunk product and agreed to return my money without dispute. It was almost a bad day.

The white van speaker scam. I've been offered this in parking lots a couple times. Last time was only a few months ago. I called my girl who I knew was at a computer and told her to look them up, thinking they might actually be a deal. It took her one minute to find hundreds of "DON'T BUY THESE SPEAKERS" reviews. I'm pretty sure I pissed the guy off when I told him he was scamming. He begged me to buy them for so cheap, which to me was more proof they were bunk. He had a magazine with them in there suggesting a high MSRP as well as a website he was trying to get me to tell her to look up.

I called the cops and gave them the license plate number of someone locally in a shopping center trying to scam people about a yr. back. Ask them their state license number they pay sales tax under. That's good for a couple of laughs. Taxing officials will make sure they either get sales records or will estimate sales tax and issue them a nice bill. I also sent an E-Mail to the Virginia Department of Taxation (with the license plate no.) so they could follow-up and give them something they deserve.
