HK Signature 2.0 Preamp w/ 2.12 Chip

Hi, everyone.

I'm new to the forum, so excuse me if I'm erring by posting this thread here. I'm in the process of purchasing a mint HK Signature 2.1 5-channel amp for $350 and want to purchase a later-model Signature 2.0 preamp with a 2.12 Motorola chip upgrade. I've read the later 2.0 models came with DTS and the third-party 2.12 chip upgrade corrected subwoofer bass routing, and added several new features the 2.0 version did not have. I know it's an older preamp/amp, but everything I've read says it is one of the best high current amps manufactured and outperforms many of currently manufactured amp/receiver units in the price range of $1K - $4K. As for HDMI/DSP/HD compatibility with current displays and component units, I can always add a unit like the Sunfire Theater Grand Processor to the loop (I guess).

I've considered getting a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH (current flagship), but after having read the lab results I felt the amplification was really terrible (clipping @ 84w (19.2 dBW) with 5 channels driven @ 1kHz, clipping @ 61w (17.9 dBW) with 7 channel driven @ 1kHz) which is FAR BELOW stated manufacturer specifications.

Any suggestions on how to get my hands on a mint HK 2.0 preamp with upgrades?

P.S. Current speaker system consists of:

Klipsch KSC-C1 (center)
Klipsch KSB 3.1 (mains)
Klipsch KSB 2.1 (rear channel)
Klipsch KSB 2.1 (additional surrounds)
Klipsch KSW 150 (subwoofer)

With my speaker system, I think the HK 2.1 amp will be a nice match for 5 speakers. Will need to find another 2 channel HK amp to drive the remaining 2 speakers.

Re: HK Signature 2.0 Preamp w/ 2.12 Chip

HK 2.1 sig is an awesome amp. You can pass on the HK preamp and buy a used Proceed(AVP or PAV/PDSD), EAD, or something like that.
