The BBC has announced the launch date of series 4 (or season 30, depending on how you count) as April 5th, with the Sci-fi channel starting the show on the 28th (well, technicly the week after that, since the 28th is the Voyage of the Dammned.)
She left the Doctor at the end of last season.
She appeared in a few episodes of the latest series of Torchwood, in which it was revealed that she is now working as a medical officer for UNIT.

They better not be teasing us and showing us old footage for the hell of it.
Do you really think they would do that?

Here is a bit more news on the 4th Dr. Who series from the BBC:
Catherine Tate accepts proposal to star in fourth series.
Catherine Tate is set to return to the TARDIS for the complete 13 week run of Series Four of Doctor Who.
Award winning comedian Tate will reprise her role as Donna, the runaway bride from last year's Christmas special, despite turning down the Doctor's invitation to travel with him at the end of that adventure.
When Catherine was asked if she would like to become The Doctor's new companion at the press screening of The Runaway Bride, she replied, "I would love to, but no one has asked!" Well, now they have.
"Catherine was an absolute star in The Runaway Bride and we are delighted that one of Britain's greatest talents has agreed to join us for the fourth series," announced Doctor Who's executive producer and head writer, Russell T Davies. "Viewers can expect more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
Catherine Tate added : "I am delighted to be returning to Doctor Who. I had a blast last Christmas and look forward to travelling again through time and space with that nice man from Gallifrey."
Freema Agyeman who has played Martha Jones, The Doctor's companion throughout the critically acclaimed third series, will return to the show to join The Doctor and Donna mid series.
I'm not Tony, but I have the Sci-Fi schedule for "Doctor Who".
"Doctor Who" will start on the Sci-Fi Channel April 18th with the 90-minute Christmas special, "Voyage of the Damned", at 8:30-10pm EST. The new season will premiere on the 25th at 9pm EST.
Sci-Fi has also acquired the "Doctor Who" spin-off, "The Sarah Jane Adventures". That will air before "Doctor Who" and premieres April 11th with a 90-minute Christmas special at 7:30-9pm EST. It's scheduled on April 18th at 8pm EST and on April 25th with two back-to-back episodes at 8 and 8:30pm EST.
Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!
April 4th: Torchwood finishes it's second season
April 5th: The Doctor Who season 4 starts on the BBC with "Partners in Crime"
April 18th: Who series four starts on Sci-Fi with last year's christmas special "Voyage of the Damned", with the "Partners in Crime" kicking off the series the following week.
(Sorry, I got the 28th from memory - obivously faulty there)
Yes Rose will be in an episode. I read it on the official Dr. Who site some time back, i think? Thats all i know. But it seems like what i read is right.
We're delighted to officially announce that Series Four of Doctor Who will commence with Partners In Crime at 6.20pm on Saturday 05 April 2008, BBC One.
Tell all your friends, cancel any prior engagements and settle down for what promises to be the most spectacular series of Doctor Who yet!
As always, Doctor Who Confidential will be going behind-the-scenes with the cast and crew, starting at 7.05pm on BBC Three. As always, we'll be supporting the show with extensive online coverage, both in the run up to and immediately after each episode.
Well, the first episode has just been broadcast on the BBC. I loved it, so did the rest of the family. A lot will hinge on how much you like Catherine Tate's character. I love it, but if you like your women insipid you aren't going to like it.
The plot is extremely difficult to give a precis of without creating spoilers. I've tried to be as spoiler-free as possible, but you have been warned before taking a look:
Adipose is a new company, headed by the draconian Ms Foster, offering a revolutionary slimming pill. It really works. In fact, you could say that the excess weight just walks out of the door ... The Doctor and Donna separately suspect something and (eventually) join up to investigate. There is also a brief appearance of another old and familiar character in the episode. In common with openers for the previous Dr Who and Torchwood series, the main story is self-contained, but sets up a thread for the series as a whole
My daughter is already clamouring for a model of the alien in the episode (I'll be amazed if there isn't a plush toy or similar released for the Christmas market).
Second - a pretty good start. Not nearly as good as Torchwood was last night (and boy do I feel weird saying that), but then it's not fair to compare climax to the first episode of the season.
Third - is it just wrong for me to have hoped for a car horn to go "meep meep" after Mrs Foster went splat?
Fourth - that blond girl at the end? She was a singer or something, right? Wasn't she in Bananarama?

I only saw Torchwood after posting my first comments or I'd have said something along the same lines.
I think Torchwood has really improved throughout the second series. They've toned down the 'if it has a pulse, shag it' mentality that ran through (and IMHO seriously marred) the first series and got down to some decent sci-fi. The ending, though, was a real shocker. [Please only read the following if you don't mind a BIG spoiler]:
Two of the main characters dying was quite a surprise. I thought one of them was on borrowed time given the series plot thread, but the other came from left field.

LOL. I couldn't get over what a bitch Raquel has become. [Explanation for American readers - the actress playing Ms Foster for many years played Raquel, a ditzy barmaid in Coronation Street, which is a popular soap opera over here and practically a national institution. The actress herself is, I should add, a really nice person.].
Damn you lucky Brits! There's still no air date for Canada (we haven't even got Voyage of the Damned or Torchwood Season 2 yet!) and when it does air it will be edited for time. I really wish Doctor Who would catch on here in North America. We'd get to see the show uncut before the dvds come out and it would be nice to see stores actually carrying some of the toys and whatnot. I want a Dalek toy and Sonic Screwdriver, damn it!
I have some questions:
Are they using that awful version of the theme from Voyage of the Damned or did they go back to using the one from season 1-3?
Is the CBC still credited at the end of the show for providing some of the funding?
I know season 2 of Torchwood was shown in an edited version for younger audiences which means they could tie the storyline into Who better than they could for season 1. Would I be lost or have Torchwood spoiled if I watch Doctor Who first?

If you mean could you watch Season 3 of Who before Season 2 of Torchwood, then the answer is 'yes'. As to whether you could watch Season 4 of Who before Season 2 of Torchwood, I don't know, but I suspect the answer will be 'yes'. The two series are designed to be watched as independent series, in spite of the cross-overs. However, if you want to make sure you catch every nuance and cross-reference, I'd recommend you watch them in the same chronological order as they've been screened in the UK:
Who 1 - Who Xmas Special 1 -Torchwood 1 - Who 2 - Who Xmas Special 2 - Who 3 - Who Xmas Special 3 - Torchwood 2 - Who 4.
It's not spoiling anything to note that characters cross over between series. E.g. Martha Jones appears in Who 3 and Torchwood 2 and will appear in Who 4.
Unofficial figures show that the first episode of Series Four, Partners in Crime, was watched by 8.4 million viewers, giving it a 39.4% share of the total television audience. It was the most watched programme of the day, beating the second placed Casualty by over 1 million viewers.
The overnight figures are slightly up on the last two season premiers, both of which benefited by being transmitted earlier in the year and in a later time slot.
The programme got almost double the audience of its main ITV1 opposition, You've Been Framed, which got 4.7 million watching.
The audience peaked in the last quarter hour at 8.7 million, with the BBC1 audience dropping by nearly 3 million when the programme finished. Final figures, which will be released by BARB in ten days time, are likely to be higher as the programme was transmitted slightly later than its published time slot.
The programme currently stands as the 10th most watched of the week, behind several episodes of EastEnders and Coronation street.
The children's audience was 1.3 million, which was a 51.0% share of all 4-15 year old's watching.

Apparently some Toys R Uses have Who toys - it was a limited test run, and not wide spread at all (I never saw them in my neck of the woods), so probably not doing you any good.
On the other hand, WhoNA does wonders for all my Dalek toy needs!

Yup, same theme.

Nope, didnt see any coproduction credits, but then with the truncated credits, they may have dropped that for space considerations.

Well, Captain Jack isnt back yet, so I dont know how the shows will sync up yet - but if the first season of Torchwood is anything to go by, you're proably pretty safe. There was some crossover, but nothing that was required viewing to make everything make sense.
Thanks, that's good to know. HDNet Canada is airing season 1 of Torchwood on the 14th and I assume they'll go straight to season 2 once that's done so it looks like I'll get to see everything in the proper order, aside from Sara Jane which is on a channel I don't subscribe to.
Blond woman? I think I know who you're refering to but I didn't think she would appear until the last three episodes. Could she be the Bad Wolf, Torchwood, Saxon of series 4 or am I thinking of the wrong person? I'm avoiding spoilers from here on out but that's a nice tease. It gives me something to think about for the next few months.
The CBC has canceled plans to broadcast the second and subsequent series of Torchwood. So it's the end of the road for the series in Canada until another broadcaster picks it up.

BBC America likes to say its their highest rated show, for what thats worth. Glad we are getting these shows so fast here in the US! Who must do OK for the Sci-Fi channel.
First ep of season 4 was great. Better special effects than usual, a nod to Close Encounters and Super Nanny (if you can watch the Doctor Who Confidential that goes with this ep, you'll know what I mean), and we were already (briefly) introduced to an important character to Donna in the Titanic Christmas episode (again, Doctor Who confidential, thanks!).
Can't wait to see this again with my wife and sister in law, who are both Doctor Who fans...

Well HDNet is airing it so its still being shown in the country but most people won't get to see it. Its not surprising it didn't succeed on CBC. Their treatment of Doctor Who is awful so I doubt many people bothered to tune in and watch it so why would they watch a spin off of it? I guess this means they won't coproducing the show anymore but hopefully the BBC can find someone else to help with the budget. For all its problems, season one was pretty decent and it had a few great episodes (Random Shoes, and the two parter where we meet the real Jack Harkness stand out) and I've heard nothing but praise for season two so I hope the show continues. I'm surprised BBC Canada doesn't show Torchwood or Doctor Who. As RickER said Torchwood is doing well on BBC America and you would think they would get better ratings then the 18 hours of home decorating/renovating/reality shows that they currently air. Who knows?
