surround speaker help

Hello All -

I am in the process of remodeling part of the basement. I am going to be drywalling the ceiling soon and am considering putting the surround speakers in the ceiling....but I have a couple of questions.

I am considering taking a couple of bookshelf style speakers and mounting them in the ceiling, with square grills over them, but I'm concerned about 'tuning' the speakers to the seating area.

The speakers have mounting brackets, but they aren't the prettiest thing ever made.

Another option would be making small shelves for the speakers to sit on. But I am trying to keep them out of site.

If they go on small shelves, I might go with the Polk R150s.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Re: surround speaker help

Why not use real, in-ceiling speakers. Parts Express has dozens of models to choose from.
