I saw these locally at CC and they looked great. Too loud in the store to get a good listen to as i would have liked. How are these speakers? Amazon has them for $129 each normally like $200 each. Are they any good? Any weaknesses?

Re: Polk monitor50???

In all honesty, Polk really is a good value for the price, but I wouls not recommend the monitor series at all. If you want at least double the quality of sound get the RTI series. Youll be gkad you did.

Your worthless answer doesnt help at all. Just a waste of space on this forum. I do not have a dedicated home theater, a huge space, or am i rich so i was wondering how they rated. They normally cost $229 each and just happen to be on sale. So please if anyone else has any advise to actually HELP someone id greatly appreciate it. I am looking for perferably floorstanders about the same size as the polks i mentioned that are good for movies mainly.

Re: Polk monitor50???

I don't have much listenning experience with the Monitor series, except at the store, and while they seem to be much better than the latest R series (R300's) they are not as good as the RTi's. Since RTi 8's have been available on closeout for $149 each recently, they would have been a better buy. But $129 seems to be a good price for the M50's. If Polk towers are what you're looking for, keep an eye out for last years model R50. Frys often has them on sale for about $140 a pair. Regular price is $199 per pair. But they sell out quickly.

"Movie/Music room": Toshiba 65HM167 RPTV, Pioneer Elite 59txi, Elite DV59avi, Elite CD-59, Pioneer PD-51FD BR, Dish-DVR, Swan Diva...

Are the rti8's still on closeout or is that done? I dont care what brand i just liked the overall look and size of them. Like i mentioned i dont have a space but its decent so i dont want a bulky speaker. I was going to go bookshelf for fronts but with a hyper bulldog i could see that getting knocked off the stand. I am open to any brand though.

Re: Polk monitor50???

yeah the monitor 50's are kinda on the small side, but since space is an issue get some bookshelf's with some sturdy speaker stands. Not as much power but still aesthetically pleasing...
