In-Wall Component Container

First, Thanks to anyone/everyone who responds and answers this thread.

I recently bought a house and am now working on my main living rooms entertainment center. I am looking for a nice, clean way to store my components. I will be hanging a plasma on the wall and would like to build into the wall a place to store the components to avoid having a free standing entertainment center.

can anyone post pictures of a similar project so I can see what others have done. Did you have to build out into the room behind the wall? Any recommendations on the distribution box to mount behind the plasma for connections?

Thanks again

Re: In-Wall Component Container

Unless all of your components are 3 1/2" inches deep, then you will have to build into the other room. Also, it will require moving a stud or part of a stud. Most studs are 16" on center and equipment is about 19" wide.

Do you have a closet nearby? Can you just install your equipment there? I installed all of my living room equipment except for my TV and speakers in the equipment racks of my home theater.
