Okay, next question:

Name two instances whereby the name of a character is Tracy (or Tracey) in TOS. These characters are from two different episodes. See if you can do it without looking it up. Good luck!

Good question. I know that there was a Captain Ronald Tracy of the Exeter. I'll have to think on the other one.

Okay, I thought about this one overnight. If this Tracy character was on TOS, I have not recalled who it is yet! But I have an idea, could it have been the little girl from And the Children Shall Lead? It's an episode I don't watch, so it's a logical guess! The other possibility is the engineer from The Alternative Factor, another one I don't watch too frequently. The one who Lazarus steals the dilithium from.

I'm not sure if I can see Mr. Barris, but I think he's behind Spock.

I'm not sure if this has been a question yet.

When was the first time Dr. McCoy utters his famous line, "I'm a Doctor, not a ....."

And as extra credit, can anyone name the film from which this running gag was lifted from? (I only just learned about this and was surprised by it.)

There are variants, more then I realized throughout the run of TOS. What I am looking for is the first time McCoy says the line exactly as written above.

It will be interesting to hear Karl Urban utter this line.

No problem Just an aside, Am I the only one on pins and needles waiting for this film? Hey guys, not to stray to far off trivia but Burger King is going to have collector character glasses for the new ST film. Not 100% sure but there might be some cool kids meal toys as well. I'm geekin out and not ashamed to admit it!

Yes, you are both correct, it was Devil in the Dark! Troy was first, so he can take a stab at the next question. Very good!

As for the second bonus question, in case anyone is interested, the origin of McCoy's catch phrase as quoted from Memory Alpha:

While the character of Dr. McCoy inarguably made the phrase "I'm a doctor ..." part of the common lexicon, he was not the first fictional doctor, or even the first character on the big screen, to coin the phrase. In the 1933 American film The Kennel Murder Case, Dr. Doremus, the coroner at the scene of the titular crime, states "I'm a doctor, not a magician," and "I'm a doctor, not a detective," within five minutes of his first appearance. It is unclear whether these particular dialog artifacts were progenitors of McCoy's famous phrase.


By the way, I am also eagerly awaiting the new film. I still have the glasses from Taco Bell for Star Trek 3! Though I doubt I'll be getting the Burger King stuff.....

I think Geordi's "coolant leak" bit is from "The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1". Him yelling that into the camera always amuses me. By the way, the answer to my trivia question was Brian Brophy. I just thought it was cool that the guy who ultimately makes the decision to free Morgan Freeman's character in "The Shawshank Redemption" is the same guy who tries to take away Data's freedom in "The Measure of a Man" by forcing him to be disassembled for study. When I made the connection, I couldn't help but wonder if he was cast in that movie as an ironic wink to TNG fans.

Here's a trivia question: What are the last two words spoken in "Star Trek"? When you think about Rodenberry's original vision of the future as a more idealized place, they're actually very appropriate, although I think it's only a coincidence that they ended up being the last words of the series, as that episode (unlike "All Good Things..." or "What You Leave Behind") obviously wasn't written to be the series finale.
