Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Scott, because "there's turkeys in there, real turkeys!"

And most of you should know who said that line of dialogue to Kirk. I think we already asked that question too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys!

By the way, I forgot to add, that Kirk being married question was a trick one! It was a good one because it threw me off and I just saw The Paradise Syndrome a few days ago! So it was Kirok who got married!

Nelson,

Correct! That question was a real turkey, wasn't it? The answer to your question is Gene Roddenberry.

So since it was Kirok, I was right! Dag nab it, I'm good!

BTW, was it established that Kirk married Antonia? I can't recall. But that sounds like a good film to watch tonight.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

I don't know about that Scott! Generations is not my idea of a good Star Trek film! As I recall, Kirk was telling Picard that he was going to ask her to marry him this time around.

If I may jump the gun on Rick, here's a question that I was pondering that was inspired by the New Trek film thread, and it's one you'd have to be an obsessive fan to know!

What is the combination to Kirk's safe in his quarters? Which buttons, 2nd from the left, followed by 5th, etc for example. There are 2 times Kirk accesses the safe in the first season, and the combination was different. I had to watch the episodes to see which he pushes. Either one will do and naming either episode is a bonus.

Nelson,

I watched Generations tonight, and you're spot on about what Kirk told Picard.

As to your question, I don't know the combination, but I do know the two episodes: What Are Little Girls Made Of? and This Side of Paradise. And although I realize you wrote 'first season,' there are a couple of other episodes (non-first season) in which we see Kirk and his safe. I don't recall the combination in either of those either, however.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

I hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving too!

I knew the episodes that Kirk gets in his safe. But i dont have a clue what the combination would be. We saw Spock get in too, didnt we? In The Tholian Web, if i recall.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Right on guys, all are correct. I wouldn't expect you guys to know the combination. Spock did access the safe in The Tholian Web, though I don't recall if he punched in a combination.

Here's the answer for the combinations:

Warning Spoiler! Click to show
From What Are Little Girls Made Of:

twice on button 5, once on button 4 and twice on button 3.

On This Side of Paradise:

Once on button 5, once on button 2, once on button 3 and once on button 1. That is if I caught all that correctly.

Nelson,

Even back in 1966-69, Trek was sure to change the combinations after at time for added security.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Nelson,

I'm not sure whose turn it is next. It's either mine or RickER's, I believe.

Inspired by some comments a few posts above this one, I'm now off to watch me a little 'Tahiti Syndrome.'

Here's a question to hold us over for a bit: Who said, "Captain Proton to the rescue." Have fun!

I don't think it matters, you both were next. So go for it!

That question is too easy!

And I just saw some Spectres of guns.

OK, i might have one. Including TAS, can you name the shuttlecraft, that have been seen, or mentioned by name.

Are you asking for one shuttle name common to TOS and TAS, or all the shuttlecraft that have been named and seen on screen?

Rick,

I can name some that have been seen or mentioned by name:

TOS

Columbus
Galileo (more than one, I believe)

TAS

Copernicus

TNG

Cousteau
Curie
El-Baz
Feynman
Goddard
Hawking
Magellan
Onizuka

Was the Justman also seen in an episode or two? That honorarium may have come after the series had completed its run.

VOY

SC-4

ENT

Shuttlepod One

Wow, those were the ons i was thinking of, and more!
Good work Scott.
The only other one i could think of was the Aqua shuttle from TAS. But i dont think it had a name. Did any of the shuttles from Mudd's Passion have a name?

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Yeah, good show Scott! I wasn't going to take a shot at that one, too many were in TNG and I don't remember most of them!

What about all those little shuttlepods like in Times Squared and others.

I was thinking of the shuttle in DS9 too, but then, those were runabouts.

I do recall seeing a shot of the Justman, but that could have been in one of the supplements interviewing Robert Justman.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

There's way too many shuttles to be able to name by memory, even if you only count titled shuttles. Also there was no limitation to series in the question so you have to name the movie shuttles as well. But here are some more anyways;

Movie shuttles I actually remember;

Argo; ST X
Cousteau (captain's yacht); ST IX
Galileo 5 & Copernicus 3(sp?); ST V
Surak; ST:TMP

There are a lot of unnamed ones in the films like the spacedock shuttle, the "executive" shuttle, and there was a variation of the ST5 shuttle in Generations. And there was a new shuttle in ST IX as well but I don't know it's name.

Series;

Voy; Delta Flyer

DS9; The Defiant had a shuttle called "Chaffee"

TNG; Technically you see the -D's yacht, "Calypso," everytime you see the lower saucer. This is true of Voyager as well but I don't know if that one had a name.

Nelson,

Yeah, I seem to recall it was included as one of those special features on the DVDs.

RickER,

You may decide who goes next. Maybe Zack or Nelson (or both) can pose a question.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Okay, here's an easy one. I just saw the episode of Hawaii Five-O that William Shatner guest stars in. It was a hoot to see him do a pretty hammy job as a Texan private investigator.

What does William Shatner and Jack Lord have in common?

They were both cast to play Kirk?

Just posting to say that I enjoy everyone's posts. Just not much of a trivia buff, I'm afraid.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

I thought of a question, I'm going. (damn your rules!!!)

In TOS episode "City of the Edge of Forever" Kirk, Spock, and McCoy travel back in time to New York City. However it's undeniable that they had in fact traveled somewhere in North Carolina, and they must have just thought that's what New York looked like back in the day. Where did they "really" go?

They went to the back lot Andy Griffith filmed on. Kirk and Edith walk past Floyd's Barber shop.

Don't break the 4th wall.

You have to actually name the "town" to win the prize.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Thanks!

I found a webpage today thats quite interesting of the 40 Acres lot where many films and TV shows (Andy Griffith, Batman and Star Trek) were filmed. Check it out, you can see where they filmed Miri, City... and Errand of Mercy (Arab Village).

Go the page, scroll down and you'll see many photos of the lot, then at the bottom is a link to a 4 page gallery where the site shows various locations for Star Trek and other TV shows.

Nelson,

Thanks for the link. I could get lost in that lot with my kids. We'd have a ton of fun recreating scenes from various series that have taken place on that acreage.

I'm pleased that those pictures (aerial and others) were taken when they were. Since the land and sets have since been bulldozed, it's great that we have these photographs to cherish.

I loved seeing the barracks for Gomer Pyle: U.S.M.C..
