Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

Other posts have commented on the daily changing discount for DVDs. In particular, there was a prior post about the October/November 50% discount and the Ford At Fox set. Except during last November/December when the cap appeared to be 30% for title under $50 and 20% for titles under $100, it appears the discount is based on the prior day sales, with titles in the top 100 getting 30%, 100-500 get 20%, 15% for 500-2000 and some box sets 10% no matter the sales rank. Pre-orders 20% until two months before release. This is an observation and speculation based on watching their prices daily.

I would be interested in other people's comments or observations.

Likewise I use their on-line coupon codes. A lot of the coupon web sites actually hyper-line to the actual coupon site at B & N (others just reprint the code numbers). Since B & N members only get percentage off coupons irregularly, I have to presume B & N knows their weekly printable coupons are being passed around and either encourage it or at least doesn't want to stop it. And the coupons are good on pre-orders.

Agree? Disagree? Anyone have other opinions?

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

Does B&N do any specials for DVDs in Nov or Dec? (like coupons or 'buy 2 get one free', etc).

I got a B&N GC for my Birthday, and I want to get the most out of it, since B&N's normal prices seem to be higher than even Border's prices on DVDs.

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

Is anybody here getting any deals at B&N?

Even their sale prices are high. I was hoping they'd be doing something special for cyber-Monday, at least.

That $25 GC is burning a hole in my pocket!

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

I received a 40%-off-one-book coupon for the BF weekend (that just expired) that required using a Mastercard to pay, but not sure if it was specific to our membership account, so I didn't think to post it for y'all to try. We picked up Tolkien's illustrated hardcover version of Silmarillians w/ it at the local store, and the wife was going to order some other book online -- it was only useable once each for online and in-store.

Since my wife didn't get around to using it online, it occurred to me to try buying the Firefly BD set w/ it, but I was just a bit too late. Would've been a sweet deal at $45 - 40% off though it was meant for a book purchase, so no idea if it would've actually worked.

There's also another new 15% off coupon now (plus a free throw for a $75 order). This one does not limit to books, but is still only good for 1 item. I may use it to buy the Firefly BD set if I don't see a better deal tomorrow. I'll gladly post it for y'all to try (probably late tomorrow or so) after I've placed my order since again I'm not sure it's useable for multiple accounts.

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

Man, the 40% coupon wouldn't work for the Firefly set -- I tried it when I posted in the other thread so no reason to feel bad about that. There was also a 20% off code that was to expire on 12/2 that never would work -- the site kept saying it was expired.

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

Just a follow-up on my Firefly BD set purchase plus additional relevant offer for any B&N shoppers.

I managed to get an extra ~$4 off the set (for net cost of ~$33 after tax) via live.com's 12% cashback for B&N. Not sure how often cashback rates change, but live.com does seem to have the highest rate for B&N (and for the few other online shops I've checked). They also offer 20-30% back on eBay buy-it-nows from time to time, eg. I actually bought an iPod Touch on Monday that way. Seems like Microsoft is using the ebate program to draw traffic and awareness to their search engine probably as part of their current plans to gain ground on Google -- and because they're probably going after much bigger fish, they're probably also not as concerned about the direct $ involved w/ these deals as other ebate programs would be.

Anyhoo, hope that helps some of y'all...

Re: Barnes and Noble Coupon Codes

If you have a AAA membership, you can link to the B&N site thru the AAA site, and get 10% off your order thru Dec. 15th (normally it's 5%)- you can combine that with the 15% off coupon code Y9V3E4H for one item, as well (which ends Dec. 9th). No B&N membership required.

FYI, B&N's ongoing Buy-2-Get-1-Free sale (for DVD/BDs) is supposedly ending on 7/7 at 3am ET.

Not sure about their DVD selection for this, but the BD selection is not bad, particularly if you're interested in some catalog titles (and would use formerly-Live-Search-now-Bing cashback to get another 10% back on top of the membership discount).

I was gonna pick up Do the Right Thing (but maybe not now w/ the color timing issue), Romancing the Stone and Seabiscuit.  All titles I haven't seen on sale for less than $20 each yet so far -- net cost for each would be ~$16+tax.  They have others also of course, but since the rules suggest I can only get 1 free title w/ the deal, those were the ones I narrowed down.
