Wall Mounting Solution Advice

Hello Guys, Looking for some advice. I just picked up another HDTV (52" flat Panel LCD). I'm going to mount it in a media niche, but I just don't want to mount it to the wall (The wall is about 2 feet deep). I would like to built a wood panel wall and hang it on that. I think it would look very nice and I would be able to hide all the wires and cables too. I had some basic wood and framing skills.

I've seen the Evo system (Link below), but that is way too expensive. I would like to build it myself. Anyone have any plan, experience, or ideas about this? Thank you....db

Re: Wall Mounting Solution Advice

We had one guy here a while back who cut out the 5/8” sheetrock where he wanted to hang the TV and installed a 5/8” piece of plywood in its place. Once he floated and textured it, it looked like any other section of the wall, and he mounted his TV on the board.
