Everytime I go into Target to buy the movie, the widescreen version is always $3 to $7 more than the Fullscreen. I want the movie, but I can't support this Fullscreen/Widescreen price game they've got going....

unless the ad explicitly says/shows the fullscreen, I usually go to the check out and when the full price rings up, I show them the ad and ask them to correct it. They usually look confused and either give it to me right away or call a manager who usually gives it to me. Or I go to best buy and ask for a price match and they give it to me.

thats a steal if it is.

also too bad about that last emperor thing i would have bought that.

also was the first season of that Newhart show really 1982?
i cant believe it.

If they have any my CC never stocks new HD releases on Day and date

The Quality of Warner's DTV Animated releases is so all over the board that this wil definately be a rental, probably unfortunately in SD , since it's near impossible to rent New release Blu ray movies

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-26-2008

I believe the HD-DVD version comes out 2 weeks after the standard and Blu versions... Warner's new policy. Stock may have been in earlier though, so maybe a slight mistake that Amazon has shipped it.

This is a regular release, Nick. I have to believe it'll be double dipped at some point. As for with Criterion or not...DL was a Fox release while Life Aquatic, Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore are all Buena Vista titles. Has Criterion ever been able to license and release a Fox movie?

I know they've done some of Fox's film noirs from 1940's but I don't think they've done anything current. And as good as The Darjeeling Limited was, it didn't really set the box office on fire so I don't know if Fox is going to be all that interested in re-releasing it any time soon. About the only thing I think that may be coming is a Blu Ray release (and since they didn't release it now, even that's probably aways off).

Agreed. I'd love for somone like Criterion to get a hold of it, though, and do a feature on the music. Really incredible stuff there.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-26-2008

Does anyone know what the difference is between the single disc and the two disc editions of Justice League: The New Frontier?

The extras are what will make me decide which version to get. Thanks for any help!

Movies I would purchase instantly if they were available in their correct aspect ratio:
Death Trap, Innocent Blood, The Shadow, and Remo Williams

Hey, this is the only thing on my list this week (and two very happy little girls waiting) but I also have to throw in Kmart at 14.99 with a discount on the doll and a Free Mini Stationery Kit, but I just may go cheap and go amazon. I have a few other things to get there anyway.

EDIT

Just checked Amazon and it's 14.99 there also, not 9.99. Guess I will just get that local and decide what freebie the girls want

Yikes, decisions! I was also bummed that Amazon apparently kicked the price back up to what everyone else is selling Mariposa for. My little princess has the doll, so I guess it'll be either Target or BB. Hmmmm.....

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-26-2008

Pricey HD week for me - Beowulf and Dragon Tiger Gate on HD DVD, 30 Days of Night and Initial D on Blu-ray, a ton of clearance-priced HD DVDs from DeepDiscount, and I would have gotten Justice League on HD DVD except for Warner delaying it.
Jay's Movie Blog - A movie-viewing diary.
Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.
Trading Post Inn - Another gender-bending soap, with different collaborators writing different points of view.

I would have gotten the Justice League on BD had FYE had it on sale today, instead of "later in the week".

For some reason, having new releases on release day is a major challenge for this chain. This happens on a regular basis.

Thanks, Jason! I guess the only big difference for me is the "Legion of Doom" and "Comic Book" featurettes. I already have all the JLU episodes, so I may just go for the single disc this time.

Thanks again!

Looks like the Justice League BD is on backorder at CC's Web site.

DD has it for 23 and change, shipped. Not too shabby.

The extra coupla bucks is worth it, because DD is awesome.

The one I saw was boxed and separate from any of the various editions of NF. I couldn't believe BB put a $19.99 price sticker on that box containing the tiny Green Lantern figure. What a rip.

Amazing.
Circuit City finally has a great price on a new release Blu-Ray but, for some reason, don't advertise it in their weekly flyer.
I head up there last night and not a single new release Blu-Ray (30 Days of Night was MIA also). I even went to a stock cart and nothing there also.

Way to support the format guys.
At least if they advertised, I could have price matched at Best Buy (who had plenty on the shelf).

Anyway, I just ordered (like I always do) it from Amazon for $20. I may have to wait a couple of days but oh well.

What was odd, they had Beowulf HDDVD available.

I also went to CC looking for Justice League: New Frontiier and the clerk said they didn't get any in. So, I ended up going to Best Buy and paying 10 bucks more. So much for CC's great price!

Thats why i never go to CC anymore. You go in for a great price, cant find it cause they put a sci-fi movie starting with "J" in westerns, under "M", they didnt get it, or they got 2, and sold them in 15 minutes on Tues. when the store opened. I will take BB, or Amazon.
