There should be no doubt in their minds about the success the show would have on dvd. I think you are right in saying it is an extension of the adventures of Lucy and Ethel... now Lucy and Viv. There has even been more interest in the show since PBS has been airing the Pioneers of Primetime special which contains several clips from The Lucy Show. They need to act on this soon though while excitement from the release of the complete box-set of I Love Lucy is still high.

Why CBS/Paramount hasn't given this show a chance is beyond me. They are missing a golden opportunity that's for sure.

THAT'S the series you'd expect to be released after all 8 seasons of "Griffith," but there's no more sign of that than "The Lucy Show." I can only think, again, it's because these series have the misfortune to be compared to their classic predecessors, and they fall short.

My guess is that the Lucy Show will be one of the top contenders to start coming out. Among Paramount properties, here are the most likely sitcoms to start getting released:
Lucy Show My Three Sons Beverly Hillbillies Petticoat Junction All of these were long running, very successful shows. I would bet that within the next 4-6 months we will be hearing news on at least 2 of these. This isn't based on any insider info, just going by how Paramount seems to be cranking out the shows. |
