DIRECT TV / DVR / DVD Recorder ????

I've looked at a good number of reviews and am still wondering about the ability for ANY DVD Recorder to record from a DVR from DIRECT TV.

Many times I hear about error messages saying the DVR is copy protected but there seems to be no consensus.

Any of you smart people know the truth???

And if it IS possible - what models. Whats the story here.

Josh - just covering all the bases - which Sony and do you record a variety of shows/channels? TV, Movies and so forth??

What got me wondering is a Sony I was looking at had had arguments on both sides - thus my confusion.

We have a duel HD DVR from last June.

Re: DIRECT TV / DVR / DVD Recorder ????

RDR GX300 is what I have for the DVD recorder, its about 3 yrs old. I have olnly recorded the UFC on a couple different channels. A couple PPV ch's plus Spike TV. I dont think it will matter what you are recording because youre just basically whats being shown on the tv. For example, if I dont wait for the DVR time stamp to disappear from the screen, it shows on the DVD.

The only thing I havent figured out yet, and I havent had the need for it yet, is to watch something while I am recording something to dvd. Im pretty sure its possible though
