Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
If you have the Chase Amazon Visa card there is a coupon on the Chase website for $5 off your next DVD/Blu-ray order of $50 or more when paying with your Amazon Visa card.
Code: DVD5BFHR
Expires: 5/15/08
From reading the fine print it appears you can use any combination of goods to reach the $50 mark as long as it includes one DVD/Blu-ray disc.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
Costco has the BBC's "Across America in HD" for $9.99 on Blu Ray. It seems kinda fishy cause it has both BD and DVD tags on the box, there is no paper insert just the carboard carrier, and says it has an electronic tag inside which I cant find, but it DOES seem to be a reak BluRay Disk, albeit an extremely thin one that doesnt feel like any of my other releases. My DVD deck doesnt recognize it either so seems genuine, dunno tho.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
Amazingly enough, I was in Best Buy on Saturday and they actually seemed to have restocked HD DVD titles for the clearance. My guess is it was a new shipment from both Alliance Atlantis and Universal, since I found The Sting for $12.99 and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for $7.99. Can't complain about the low prices on the AA releases; I just wish there were more titles I actually wanted.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
There were zero HDDVDs today in hazlet nj but more BDs than my last trip. All of the pixar ones are still $27 tho some had that price scratched out like they were supposed to be on sale, but they rang up full price just the same.

I´ve most titles already that interest me, but I picked up "Pan's Labyrinth" (finally, I might add), "Run Lola Run" and "Monty Python's Life Of Brian - The Immaculate Edition". Paid for two.

Pretty sad selection, but nice to see that the concept is still breathing.

Yup.
Of course, last I checked, my local B&N didn't even stock any BDs.

From what I can tell so far, basically, if one actually wants a good deal and is willing to be a bit patient (and not pay a premium for instant gratification), then anything over $20 would not constitute a good deal.

I find that nearly all titles eventually end up going on some sort of sale (and/or MSRP price drop) so that you can get almost everything for <=$20 -- maybe that will change once Criterion jumps on board.

So for me, I pretty much refuse to spend more than $20 on almost any BD title unless it's a must-have-right-now title.

So far, w/ whatever sales, rebates and discounts (including Amazon's $5 off $50 deal for their Visa Card), I generally only end up spending a net $10-15 on any given title I own (out of ~50 that I've bought since late December) w/ very few exceptions.
YMMV of course...
