Maybe it's just me (it usually is! ) but $40 for the two BDs of the NT movies doesn't seem like a screamin' good deal. I realize we are talking about two new releases here....but, I would figure those would probably be two likely candidates for a Target BOGO for $30 (similar to what they ran last week). |
Don't get me wrong here Mike am just a little puzzled why you feel $20 a peice for two HD movies is not a good deal? Now to be honest I can not say that if the second movie is worth getting or not? As I have not even seen the movie so I am just wondering if I want it based on the fact that I have not seen it. Now the first National Treasure I will definantly purchase the day it is available.

But the second movie might be a roll of the dice but it should be worth $20. I have a feeling the DVD will be at least 19.99 for National Treasure 2.

I don't figure Amazon and DeepDiscount will likely do much more clearance-pricing than they already are. It's not like shelf space is a big deal for them, so there's little harm in keeping stuff in the warehouse until it sells out.

No HD DVDs left at Best Buy for me.

With all the reatilers sending them back, I'm wondering what the studios are going to do with them. Is it going to be Atari ca. 1984 (crushing
E.T. cartridges up and burying them in a landfill) or Atari ca. 1995 (selling them to a guy who stores them in a limestone cave and sells them to anyone who happens onto his website for $3 a pop).
They'll probably just keep them in a warehouse and fulfill orders from online shops as they come. But I'm hoping for the limestone cave.

It's a kind of unofficial BOGO deal for this two-pack since $27.95 is the normal price for one. Any film with Alien's and Predators getting splattered in Hi-Def is okay by me. Sold!

One local Wal-Mart (Red Deer) is clearing its HD DVD titles out @ 50% off. I'm going to check the Leduc location when I'm done with court tomorrow.

Reminds me of the first movie I went to with my g/f (now wife): Blade Runner: The Director's Cut, but for slightly different reasons. My wife is not a SF fan at the best of times, but BR really disturbed her. She still married me, though, and bought me the BR Ultimate Edition for Christmas last year.

When did you see this? I checked my local BB and FS and there was no change. Still have to check out HMV though.

I was in HMV at Peel and Ste. Catherine and I found one title that I wanted at 6.99--Matador (the other was some Billy Bob Thorton title I can't recall that I didn't want). Pan's Labyrinth and Eastern Promises and Atonement were sold out. Will go hunting again tomorrow.

I went to BB and did not notice any change in pricing ether. They where still an average of $5 - $7 more than Fry's. I went to BB to see if they had Hidalgo and noticed that I Am Legand was $34.99 and I ended up getting it at Fry's for $23.99 instead. One thing I did notice at Frys was there where a large number of HD-DVD titles on sale for $9.99 - $14.99.
