Official HD-DVD Thread?

I appears that there is a Bluray"official"thread and a"format war"is over thread, however there appears to be no HD-DVD official thread for information on that format. It also states in the "war is over" thread that there is no bias on this forum. I am new here and this does not seem to add up. Am I missing something? Can we get some new information on HD-DVD in a sticky thread. Or would that create some sort of bias to the "other" format?

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread

Welcome to HTF. A cursory search (the buttons are at the top of the page) reveals the following:

I am sure there are others.

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread

The sticky Blu-ray thread is for Q&A w/ industry insiders. Presumably, if HD DVD insiders made themselves available for similar Q&A, then we'd have a sticky thread for that also. HTF has other similar type threads/forum sections for Q&A w/ industry people, so it's definitely not something exclusive to (or even originated w/) Blu-ray.

The other so called "official" threads are not sticky and just depend on member participation as usual.

And oh yes, pardon my manners. Welcome to the forum!

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread?

Thank you for the update with the link. However, the most recent post appears wto be well over a year ago. If the HD guys did not have to dig for the "official" thread, there may be more access and a way for "insiders" to post. Where do the HD-DVD insiders post now? I am confused as to what makes someone an insider anyway. It appears on the "official "insider"" thread that there are many regular memebers posting. Does merely owning a bd player make one an insider? Point being...it would be fair and equitable to the HD-DVD owners to have a sticky with updates and information that the bd owners are getting. If there is an HD-DVD "insider" out there, please comment on this thread.

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread?

Hmmm... You just got here -- and don't seem to bother to understand how things work. Why be so confrontational about this already?

RE: certain linked threads dedicated to HDD, if HDD owners wanted to post in them, then such threads would stay on the front page and would not drift into oblivion -- that's just how most internet forums work. I have no idea why we don't seem to have any HDD insiders participate here. Well, NVM, actually, we do. Did you check out the HDD Combo Disc issues sticky thread over in the HD Software section for instance?

Anyway, what's up w/ being so confrontational from the get-go?

Peace...

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread?

The "** Official Blu-ray Insiders Thread" was started when we still had separate HD DVD and BD areas. It was meant to give people an opportunity to talk to some insiders, in particularly paidgeek, a Sony employee who was available then (less now) to answer questions of BD-owners.

We didn't have someone like him on the HD DVD side, although on occasion we had a sticky HD DVD insider thread about a dedicated subject, handily named after the subject.

Nothing more to it than that, and we're format neutral, and for a long time already, so we're not counting plusses and minuses on each side all the time to painfully prove (or feel) that we are.

Re: Official HD-DVD Thread?

Feel free to jump on the Kevin or Ken Graffeo threads if you have specific things to discuss about Microsoft or Universals involvement. While I can't say either follows those threads regularly, it's your best bet. AFAIK we dont have direct industry lines to either Paramount or Toshiba, and those 4 companies are the only ones that really matter at this point... So there ya go.
