Whole House and Home Theater Pre-Wire??

Hello everyone!!

Names Shawn and I'm from Omaha NE, I'll probably be around awhile since I have a little pressure to finish my basement with another new little one on the way needing my office! I'll be finishing the basement with the following.

1. Home Theater room (separate room)
2. Bar area with flat panel in back of bar (one end of the big room)
3. Family room (other end of the big room)
4. Office with Flat panel on wall (separate room)

Tell me if I'm crazy to think but I Have 2 HD Tivos and media Center I'd like to watch on any one of my 6 TVs and HT Projector. Nightmare?? I looked at putting all equipment in a room and pumping each device through a HDMI 8X1 slitters then into 7 HDMI 1X8 switches. And cabling HDMI to each TV!! Ohh and I'll need to run IR to each location.

I do have a limited budget, (or I guess i can try to pick up more side jobs! )

Thanks
Ice

Re: Whole House and Home Theater Pre-Wire??

Sounds like you definitely have your work cut out for you. Is any part of the basement finished at all or are you starting from scratch? It took me a better part of a year working on the basement here and there to get mine for the most part finished.

Something you will need to consider is how long of an HDMI runs you are planning. I believe you start get signal degradation over 15 to 20 feet depending on your cable of course. I know Blue Jeans cable has HDMI cables able to run up to 45' and is still compliant with the current HDMI standard.

Cheers,
JJ
