For many fans, 1982 is hailed as the golden year for genre (meaning sci-fi, fantasy, or related types of stories) films. It's only January; Cloverfield and the trailers for a few films have me optimistic.
Here's a list of films that I think could help make 2008 another golden year for fans of the fantastic in movies. (I realize I left out quite a few films; claiming no objectivity, these are the ones I hold out hope for being worth revisiting a few years down the road. A few these *cough*10,000 BC*cough* I know will be cheesy, but I'm hoping for good cheese, not gastro-cramp inducing cheese.) In no particular order:
