For many fans, 1982 is hailed as the golden year for genre (meaning sci-fi, fantasy, or related types of stories) films. It's only January; Cloverfield and the trailers for a few films have me optimistic.

Here's a list of films that I think could help make 2008 another golden year for fans of the fantastic in movies. (I realize I left out quite a few films; claiming no objectivity, these are the ones I hold out hope for being worth revisiting a few years down the road. A few these *cough*10,000 BC*cough* I know will be cheesy, but I'm hoping for good cheese, not gastro-cramp inducing cheese.) In no particular order:
  • The Dark Knight
  • Iron Man
  • Hellboy II
  • Wall.E
  • Doomsday
  • Cloverfield
  • 10,000 BC
  • Rambo
  • Prince Caspian
  • Indiana Jones IV
  • The Happening
  • Hancock
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • X-Files 2
  • Mummy 3
  • City of Ember
  • Quantum of Solace
  • Harry Potter VI
  • The Tale of Despereaux
  • Star Trek
