Speaker Wire and Teflon

Hi I have some people suggest wrapping DIY Home Depot HD-14 speaker wire and DIY White Lightning Moonshine speaker wire in Teflon tape. Exactly what does it do and in what circumstances do you need to use it? I think people use it to prevent static from carpet or something? Also, where on the speaker wire do people use it? Thanks.

It wastes your money. That's the only thing it does.

You know folks. The OP has posted a total (currently) 24 comments in HTF, 20 of which are threads he started and never returned to, most asking bizarre questions like this, or generally vague ones.

I am getting the feeling that responding is a waste of time.
